Certified Coder

Under the supervision of the Coding and Data Quality Manager, the Certified Coder is responsible for following established procedures for the review, classification, and abstraction of clinical data from patients medical records regarding diseases, treatment given, and operative procedures. Certified Coder also abstracts and codes relevant data elements for each inpatient discharge, inpatient interim, outpatient surgery, clinic and ancillary visit coding.

Minimum Education and Skills Required for Consideration:

  • Post High School or equivalent
  • Two years of acute care coding experience
  • Must have thorough knowledge of medical terminology/anatomy/ physiology/ coding principles.
  • Required Certification/Licensure: RHIT or CCS
