Job Title: Associate Program Coordinator
Position Summary and Key Responsibilities:
Assists in recruiting, selection, processing, evaluation and planning for all City of Hope's Science, Education and Training Programs: San Gabriel Valley (SGV) Science Education Partnership Award (SEPA) Collaborative (COH-SGV SEPAC), Girls Only Stem (GO Stem), Saturday Science Academy, Scout Science Days, and additional K-12 science educational programming . Manages educational programs targeted to K-8 students and provides support to high school research programs. Provides support to all programs with various services, including recruiting and tracking of students. Helps establish new programs as requested by the PI and program manager. Plans and implements community outreach programs to inform and educate parents about City of Hope's educational programs. Helps design and maintain science educational website. Maintains relationships with all schools districts and cities belonging to the Foothill Consortium as they pertain to collaborative educational programs that fall under the auspices of the City of Hope's educational outreach efforts.
40% Plans, implements and collaborates on the evaluation of the all programs for lower-grade (K-8) students. May make programmatic decisions about educational content included in the programs. Works with the leadership team to recruit, select and process students for the summer high school research program, with special emphasis on recruiting students from underrepresented minority groups. Assists with placement of summer research program graduates into COH laboratories for continuation of research during the academic school year. Helps track students and coordinates with participating schools for students to receive high school credit.
30% Helps establish new programs in partnership with science teachers in the DUSD and other neighboring school districts. This will include: working to replicate the existing DUSD activities into other communities and school districts; developing a teacher professional development program under the auspices of the COH Science, Education and Training program; maintaining and expanding relationships between COH faculty and science teachers (visits to classrooms and field trips to campus); and other programs developed by the steering committee. Assists with the development of non-curricular materials for the K-12 programs, including but not limited to t-shirts and other giveaways, displays for use in classrooms, and brochures for parents.
30% Creates and maintains student records for educational programs and interfaces with the external program evaluators in utilizing these records. May conduct analysis of evaluation data for purposes of improving program design and implementation. Coordinates with Business Manager on grant administration: tracking and reporting time and effort; processing of stipends, honoraria, reimbursements, other grant expenditures; tracking and oversight of grant budget. Plans and manages meetings and events with parents, district and city personnel. Represents the SEPAC at most of these meetings. Makes flight and hotel arrangements for travel to meetings and for guest speakers. Helps develop and maintain SEPAC website.

Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Education and Skills Required for Consideration:
- Bachelor's Degree
- A year of experience in the field of community relations or K-12 education. Experience in the sciences is desirable. Familiarity with grant administration and grant accounting is a plus.
- Preferred Education: Degree in the sciences and/or experience working with K-12 students in a laboratory or classroom setting.
