Water Development Engineer

The Water Department's Engineering Division Planning and Development Section is seeking to fill a Development Engineer position. This position will assist developers' with their water and sewer inquiries related to their proposed development. This includes from the preliminary planning to the study phase through plan reviews. Coordination with the outside development community as well and internal City departments is a key component to the success of this position. We are seeking an individual who understands not only the technical side of the plan review, but also has the ability to apply these concepts to proposed projects to ensure that new development will install adequate infrastructure. Some of the associated tasks with this position are: addressing plat and plan review issues, communicate Water Departments design and guidelines to developers and consultants, formulate Formal Community Facilities Agreements (CFA), understand water and wastewater hydraulic models, and act as a project manager and be responsible for other assigned tasks. This position will also assist in review of Board of Adjustment cases, site plans, grading permits, and encroachments.

The selected candidate shall possess problem solving, project management, strong interpersonal, and leadership skills with the ability to work independently under the direction of an Engineering Manager. Good communication and writing skills with high level of multi-tasking ability are essential to address high volume of telephone, email, and walk-in public inquiries. GIS view skills, electronic plan review skills, thorough understanding of local government engineering and Fort Worth development process are a must. Coordination with the outside development community as well as internal City departments is a key component to the success of this position. We are seeking an individual who understands not only the technical side of the plan review, but also has the ability to apply these concepts to proposed projects to ensure that new development will install adequate infrastructure.

Skills / Requirements

For qualifications you would need at least a Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university with major course work in Civil Engineering or related field, professional engineering license plus four (4) years of increasingly responsible as a Professional Engineer of which two (2) years must be in Field Engineering performing project management including design, inspection and contract administration of infrastructure improvement.

This position will require you to be a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas or, if licensed in another state, your continued employment will be contingent upon obtaining registration as a Professional Engineer, within the State of Texas, within six (6) months of employment. You will also need a valid driver's license, an acceptable driving record, and you must be able to pass a drug test and criminal background check.
