Equipment Operator

TPW/ Streets & Stormwater Division is seeking Equipment Operators

Do you possess a Class "A" driver's license? Do you have experience operating heavy equipment such as dump trucks, excavator, back-hoe, etc.? If so the City of Fort Worth TPW Street & Stormwater Operations is seeking first responders in severe weather emergencies with your skill set!

The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and willingness to learn. As a member of the team the ideal candidate will work four (4) ten hour work days and available in an on-call capacity when emergencies arise.

Prospective candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, Class A driver's license and 2 years' experience operating heavy equipment to be successful in this position.

When assigned to Stormwater Operations preference may be given for additional education, knowledge, experience and/or certification as it relates to the position. Preferred experience includes:

  • On-road equipment including operating a dump truck, tractor trailer, water truck…
  • List years of experience for each piece of equipment and specific job task on each
  • Off-road equipment such as back-hoe, skid-steer, pay loader, mini-excavator, large mowers with bat-wing and brush-hog attachments …
  • List years of experience for each piece of equipment and specific job task on each
  • Hauling various materials such as rock, sand, debris and experience hauling equipment (pulling trailers)
  • Traffic Control (MUTCD) and safety procedures
  • Knowledge and use of various hand and power tools as it relates to Stormwater maintenance (be specific listing each tool)
  • Experience working with concrete hand tools; form setting and concrete finishing
  • Experience working in extreme weather conditions such rain, hail, sleet, snow and heat

When assigned to Street Operations preference may be given for additional education, knowledge, experience and/or certification as it relates to the position. Preferred experience includes:

  • On-road equipment including operating a dump truck, tractor trailer, maintainer…
  • List years of experience for each piece of equipment and specific job task on each
  • Off-road equipment such as back-hoe and/or front-end loader
  • List years of experience for each piece of equipment and specific job task on each
  • Hauling various materials such as rock, sand, debris and experience hauling equipment (pulling trailers)
  • Traffic Control (MUTCD) and safety procedures
  • Knowledge and use of various hand and power tools as it relates to Street operation maintenance (be specific listing each tool)
  • Experience working with concrete hand tools; form setting and concrete finishing
  • Experience with crack sealing and asphalt raking
  • Experience working in extreme weather conditions such rain, hail, sleet, snow and heat
