Sr. Director of Sales Operations and Strategy

The Meraki Sales Sr. Director of Sales Operations and Strategy supports the Meraki VP of World Wide Sales in driving Meraki’s ongoing sales growth by challenging the organization to drive high quality execution, evolving core aspects of the operating model for ongoing scale, and lead non-selling internal strategy and operational functions to support the business. This role acts as Chief Of Staff in the daily execution of worldwide sales. The role partners closely to drive performance with Meraki internal stakeholders (e.g., sales leadership, BU leadership), optimize and align with Cisco stakeholders (e.g., S&P leadership, regional sales leadership), as well as speak for Meraki in engagements with customers and partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading the organization to drive high quality execution
  • Counsel sales leadership on improvements to sales execution
  • Support and partner with VP of WW Sales to drive deal strategy and approvals for most strategic deals
  • Provide mentorship to select members of Meraki Sales leadership
  • Evolving the operating model for ongoing transformation
  • Partner with VP of WW Sales and Meraki BU leadership to drive evolution of Meraki GTM across Sales and BU functions (e.g. new coverage models, evolving cross-architecture motions, etc)
  • Partner with Cisco Global Specialist Strategy and Planning leaders to expand Meraki GTM model beyond today’s capabilities to better engage broader Cisco portfolio and resources
  • Sales Operations to drive high quality Meraki SFDC execution and evolution, optimize rules of engagement, and support the day-to-day experience of Meraki Sales reps
  • Sales Strategy & Planning to generate relevant insights for sales leadership, plan for quarterly and annual growth, and execute commissions
  • Sales Administration to drive field sales productivity by supporting trial and order management and streamlining complex interactions with HQ
  • GTM Strategy to bring best of BU and Sales capabilities together in day-to-day execution, improve long-term planning across the business, and support Regional Sales Leads
  • Coach the team to drive standard methodology execution across problem solving & structuring, analytics, communications, and project management
  • Represent the team in critical engagement with Cisco leaders or other top stakeholders
  • Drive collaboration between Sales and GTM Strategy to understand near and long-term opportunities and challenges for Meraki’s growth, synthesize insights for sales & BU leadership, and develop cross-functional recommendations
  • Set direction for global Cisco Strategy & Planning teams by understanding how Meraki’s needs fit into Cisco’s broader strategy

What we’re looking for in you:

  • Currently living in, or open to relocating to greater San Francisco Bay Area, California
  • BA/BS required; MBA degree a plus
  • 12+ years of experience in a finance, consulting, or other highly analytical role
  • 6-8 years of managing analytical teams
  • Experience developing go-to-market strategies in a technology context, networking industry a plus
  • Experience connecting GTM strategy with talent strategy to drive performance
  • Experience designing, supporting, or operating large-scale enablement programs or initiatives
  • Extraordinary analytical skills: demonstrated ability to structure complex problems, develop solutions, and craft compelling presentations to senior management
  • Comfortable creating frameworks and process to drive consistent execution across the team
  • Expert in creating strong presentations that communicate complex thoughts in simple messages
  • Expert in crafting complex business intelligence models, with ability to teach standard methodologies to others
  • Interest in and ability to understand networking and cloud technologies
  • Interest in and ability to understand interplay between business functions and then work collaboratively across those functions to get results
  • Strong analytical and logical reasoning skills
  • Program management experience and skillset
  • Experience with Salesforce.com a plus
  • Experience with SQL and other data query platforms a plus
  • Experience leading a sales team a plus
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship now or in the future
