The Villa de Matel Center is the home for the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word. It is also used as a central gathering place for the Sisters and their ministries, a retirement center for the Sisters and a retreat center for the public. Summary:
The HVAC – Registered A/C and Refrigeration Tech is responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of all refrigerators and air conditioning equipment and units, including associated piping and insulation.
Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for repairing and replacing compressors, replenishing refrigerants, replacing worn out belts, replacing burnt out motors, etc. Refrigeration equipment includes compressors cooling units, walk-in refrigerators, mixing boxes, drinking fountains, water cooling units, freezers and ice makers.
2. Install or replace equipment; disconnect and re-run refrigerant lines; test for leaks, correct operation and proper functions of controls.
3. Responsible for the operation of all exhaust and air supply fans. Individual thermostat controls in each room and all zone thermostats.

4. Assist and monitor contractor's work to be sure specifications and codes are complied with. Reports any variance to contract to supervisor.
5. Responsible for proper care, use and safeguarding of tools, compressors, refrigerants, etc.
6. Daily review of property and mechanical equipment.
7. Perform preventative maintenance on scheduled basis as assigned.
8. Monitor heating and cooling systems with the energy management system.
9. Cross trains with maintenance software such as BAS, Work Order Management System, Security Systems, and etc.
10. Assist with plumbing repairs and code requirements.
11. Assists with Villa de Matel emergency plan.
12. Assists Electrician and Mechanic technician when needed.
13. Periodically, on a weekly rotating basis is On Call as scheduled.
14. Perform general building maintenance such as routine plumbing, electrical repairs, and painting.
15. Perform other jobs as requested when needed within the Maintenance department.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 2 years technical school
- Be familiar with tools and methods of trade, including knowledge of safety codes and regulations
- Ability to plan and lay out work from blueprints, sketches or drawings
- Knowledge of building automation systems preferred
- 4 years air conditioning and refrigeration experience
- Texas Driver’s License
- Registered A/C & Refrigeration Technician
- HVAC & R Service Training Certification
- Refrigerant Recovery Usage Certification
- Boiler Operators Permit
