Assistant General Manager

Overview

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) will serve as a leader of supply chain operations at the distribution center; the individual, among other leaders, will be responsible for executing safe and effective operations that meet the needs of the organization and its employees. Reporting directly to the General Manager (GM), this person will help lead an eventual workforce of ~300 people distributing more than 10 million cases of inventory annually to Chick-fil-A Operators throughout the southeast. This person will have the opportunity to pour into the operations of the distribution center and will support the drive for supply chain innovation unique to the food service industry. Most importantly, this person will lead in a way that supports Chick-fil-A's vision and strategy while embodying the corporate purpose.

This role requires the leader to utilize a diverse range of skills and experiences in the overall support of company operations and requires a high degree of interdependence in the execution of these responsibilities. The AGM will work closely with the GM and Chick-fil-A Supply's Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to establish and continually improve the organization's performance, productivity, efficiency, and profitability through effective supply chain management methods and strategies. This calls for a dynamic leader who has a heart for service and compassion coupled with a mind for effectively supporting the management of the business. Furthermore, this role will be uniquely challenged with their participation in the scaling of Cartersville operations from 20 to 200+ restaurants while rapidly iterating through internal and external process improvements.

Responsibilities

General

  • Help lead a large-scale food service distribution center operation with a safety-first mindset
  • Act as a liaison, balancing the needs of the Operator with the capabilities of the operation
  • Lead and engage a workforce of ~300 people with specific ownership of and focus on various functions within the building
  • Designing, implementing, managing, and improving distribution center operations
  • Deliver high service levels to Operators and achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Participate in oversight of the P&L of the distribution center operation
  • Build and sustain culture that aligns with Chick-fil-A Supply values of safety, excellence, and respect
  • Drive innovation in all areas of the distribution center operations
  • Complete other activities as deemed valuable by senior leadership


Relationship Management
  • Work closely with CFA Supply SLT, CFA Inc. Supply Chain, Operators, and various business partners to ensure optimal alignment
  • Possess intimate knowledge of who the customers are and the ability to put others above their individual self
  • Demonstrate the ability to value both relationships and results
  • Be able to navigate through a confrontational situation, ensuring all parties are treated with honor, dignity, and respect


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Supply Chain Management or another relevant field
  • 7+ years of experience in distribution, manufacturing, or other relevant supply chain field management
  • Strong aptitude to think critically, solve problems, and drive improvements in a professional and respectful manner
  • Demonstrated experience and success with process improvement and efficiency
  • Strong ability to negotiate and resolve conflict
  • Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to perform effective short-term and long-range planning
  • Experienced with general accounting practices
  • Strong knowledge of production and inventory control theories and practices
  • Thorough and working understanding of various performance metrics, particularly establishing KPIs and managing to them
  • Working knowledge of inbound logistics, warehousing, IT systems, and outbound logistics in the distribution industry; food distribution experience is a plus
  • Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with all food safety and general safety standards, quality specifications, local and governmental requirements
  • Proven ability to recruit, train, and develop a strong team
  • Ability to travel when necessary
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and on cross-functional teams
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access; experience with ERP, WMS, and TMS solutions


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing in a food distribution or food manufacturing environment
  • Experience in a start-up environment
  • Demonstrated success in operations and people leadership
  • Experience with building and managing to budgets; ownership of P&L categories
