Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant analyzes and administers daily financial operations and activity for Hickory Street Capital, LLC and other Ricketts-managed entities, as needed, on a timely basis in accordance with GAAP and the company's accounting policies and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform daily and monthly accounting activities (e.g., recording journal entries, G/L and bank account reconciliations, monthly close) for assigned entities and their subsidiary companies
  • Ensure all expenses, revenues and balance sheet items are recorded in a timely and accurate manner, and in accordance with applicable GAAP
  • Utilize the G/L and reporting systems to effectively record transactions and prepare monthly internal financial statements
  • Maintain detailed listings of all leases and significant agreements the company enters into, including the key terms and payment information
  • Perform the accounting for all leases and prepare all billings to tenants
  • Evaluate all construction project invoices for accounting treatment and prepare the monthly summary package of the invoices for review by the Accounting Manager and Controller
  • Record monthly activity related to fixed asset transactions (including additions, disposals, and depreciation expense). Maintain the fixed asset database with all activity recorded
  • Serve as a main resource for HSC employees related to invoice coding and other accounting questions
  • Assist with audit and tax return requests, as well as with ad hoc reporting requested by management
  • Take on additional responsibilities as the business continues to grow

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four-year undergraduate degree from an accredited university majoring in business or related field
  • At least one year of accounting, auditing, or bookkeeping experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products, primarily ExceL
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and organizational skills, including meeting deadlines
  • Detail oriented
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and responsibilities in a dynamic work environment

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • CPA or currently pursuing CPA
  • At least 2-3 years of accounting or auditing experience in public accounting
  • Experience with event and fixed asset/lease accounting
  • Experience with Great Plains accounting software and Sage fixed asset software
