Senior Accountant


The Senior Accountant analyzes and administers daily financial operations and activity for Hickory Street Capital, LLC and other Ricketts-managed entities, as needed, on a timely basis in accordance with GAAP and the company's accounting policies and procedures.


  • Perform the daily and monthly accounting activities (e.g., recording journal entries, G/L and bank account reconciliations, monthly close) for the assigned entities and their subsidiary companies, with a focus on sponsorships, private and public events, and operations run by third-party management companies
  • Ensure all expenses, revenues and balance sheet items are recorded in a timely and accurate manner, and in accordance with applicable GAAP
  • Utilize the G/L and reporting systems to effectively record transactions and prepare monthly internal financial statements
  • Maintain summaries and accounting analyses of all significant agreements the company enters into, including the key terms, payment information, and accounting implications
  • Research technical accounting issues and propose solutions as needed
  • Assist with the implementation of the new accounting standards
  • Review and implement changes in accounting procedures to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Serve as a main resource for HSC employees and third-party management companies related to invoice coding, accounting questions, and monthly reporting from management companies
  • Assist with annual budgeting, audit, and tax return requests, as well as with monthly projection updates and ad hoc reporting requested by management
  • Assist with the preparation of the audited financial statements and footnotes
  • Take on additional responsibilities as the business continues to grow


  • Four-year undergraduate degree from an accredited university majoring in business or related field
  • At least two years of accounting, auditing, or bookkeeping experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products, primarily Excel
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and organizational skills, including meeting deadlines
  • Detail oriented
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and responsibilities in a dynamic work environment


  • CPA or currently pursuing CPA
  • At least three to four years of accounting or auditing experience in public accounting
  • Experience with hospitality/food and beverage industries
  • Experience with Great Plains accounting software
