We are looking a Sr Manager, Business Analytics to build, from the group up, our analytical capabilities for pet insurance. This role will find opportunities to tackle business challenges from conceptualization to delivery, producing insights and actions to drive efficient customer acquisition and optimize customer experience. This individual should be comfortable in ambiguity, be a self-starter, excellent communicator and enjoy building partnerships with stakeholders to deliver better results for customers.   • Develop and execute analytics strategy for Chewy pet insurance business to drive actions to impact business output goals using scientifically based methods and decision making.
  • Provide insights and decision-making frameworks to drive acquisition (customer segmentation, price elasticity, price/coverage optimization, portfolio analytics, bundling behaviors, etc.), development of product features, and customer lifecycle management (claims behavior, cancelations).
  • Mechanize driving insights into actions by working with cross-functional partners (i.e., Marketing, Product Management, Customer Service and central analytics teams).
  • Own the full cycle of analytical deliverables - conceptualization, data mining and analysis, insights, and make recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Able to lead process with minimal direction.
  • Uses technical expertise to conceptualize and develop new, reusable tools, models, and approaches to provide our partners with insights and recommendations to meet business goals.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on pet insurance data modeling, system architecture, data governance, and business intelligence tools.
  • This role requires hands-on use of analytical and data-mining tools, and effective presentation skills to influence the client and internal decision makers
  • Coordinate the develop of customer-facing reporting with centralized business intelligence and data engineering teams.

What you'll need:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Business Analytics or a related subject area followed by 5+ years of progressively responsible experience
  • Master’s Degree in Business Analytics or related field

Business/company stage:

  • 3+ years of insurance industry experience
  • Experience building analytics function from the ground-up to support a business through hyper-growth <$100K to $10M+
  • Have experience in interacting with senior business leaders, leading conversations, and offering differentiating perspectives
  • Have a proven track record to deliver succinct and structured oral and written communications

Technical skills:

  • Experience driving large scale projects end-to-end, including demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams through highly sophisticated, ambiguous situations presenting them with clear, practical insights that accelerate time to market
  • 2 years of experience with data scripting languages (e.g SQL, Python, R etc.) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, or Matlab).
  • 2 years of experience with quantitative analysis.
