Sr. Learning Program Manager - FC Startup (Launch)

 

Our Opportunity:

Chewy is seeking a Senior Program Manager – FC Startup to build and lead the Learning function for our Fulfillment Center Start-up Team.  This role will partner with functional stakeholders in Operations, Quality, Safety, WMS, HR, Recruiting, external vendors, and other support teams to create and manage all learning startup operations and transfer tasks to site leadership through and after launch of a new site. This starts with building robust training programs for all Chewy team members at new launch Fulfillment Centers (FC), continues with coordinating learning for leaders and team members at new sites, and concludes with transitioning the management of Learning to the new site Learning team. The overarching responsibility of this role will be to own all learning activities 90 days before launch through the first 90 days of operating a new site. This is a high-visibility role that will interact with all levels of the organization and requires a candidate that has excellent written and verbal communication skills.  The ideal candidate will have a passion for problem solving, understand of process improvement, expertise in designing and building sustainable business processes, and a track record for utilizing data to drive decisions and collaboration across the organization.

What You'll Do:

This role will develop processes and programs for learning, lead collaboration and training for leaders and team members, and conduct a sustainable transition to self-sufficiency in learning and site operations.

  

Build the Startup process for all learning operation at new FC sites.

  • Design a sustainable, repeatable, well-documented method for Site Learning Startup.
  • Establish all operational learning functions for the first 90 days of new building launch.
  • Establish relationships with all stakeholders in the new site launch and FC support teams.
  • Initiate, grow, and develop and new Learning Lauch team over the next series FC Launches.

 

Run the Learning function for leaders and all Team Members prior to launch.

  • Support hiring of site Learning team and coordination of away teams.
  • Facilitate all Learning related launch activities.
  • Teach new TMs and leaders standard operational processes.  
  • Ensure Chewy network standards, operational daily tasks/reporting, and all required internal/external communication is executed.

 

Transition the Learning function to the new site Learning team and site leaders. 

  • Mentor Learning Operations Manager in daily operations.
  • Coach Site Leadership team in communication cadence, cross-team collaboration, and escalation expectations.
  • Assure all operational and Learning metrics are within control limits before leaving site.

 

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related discipline
  • Solid leadership and organizational skills with the ability to identify and improve work performance of direct reports and peripheral teams.
  • Ability to create and interpret process diagrams, project plans & Gantt charts, and program related documents.    
  • 2+ years technical experience with project management
  • 2+ years’ experience functional experience in implementing process changes and managing large complex projects
  • 2+ years of experience in large scale fulfillment center, distribution, or manufacturing site launches/projects
  • Strong analytics and communications background (e.g., math, statistics, quantitative methods, and verbal and writing proficiency).  This includes strong Excel skills or other equivalent analytical tools.
  • Identify and recommend operations improvement opportunities to meet ever increasing business requirements
  • Cross functional team management experience
  • Must have experience and knowledge of warehouse operations, manufacturing and/or materials handling systems
  • Ability to travel 60% of the time with extended stay at startup locations.
