Chevron is accepting online applications for the position Research Technician through January 30, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. (Pacific Standard Time).  

The role has proven ability in one or more functional areas of standard analytical testing and equipment in the resid analysis, gas chromatography, and environmental analysis labs. The successful applicant will work with lead chemists on a variety of routine analyses and R&D projects which support Chevron's internal analytical needs.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain good housekeeping in the laboratory and routinely troubleshoot equipment- such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), densimeter, and other instruments.
  • Prepare samples using solvent extraction techniques, standard dilution, and small-scale inorganic/organic reactions.
  • Record data and generate summary reports.  
  • Apply Global Laboratory Services’ QA, QC principles; develop and strictly follow SOPs while performing analytical testing.
  • Understand the MOC process and work with the MOC Authorizer and Researcher to safely implement the changes.
  • Work closely with the lead chemists in the resid area regarding research and development activities.
  • Participate in the development and updating of standard tests, including writing or modifying SOPs. a
  • Communicate effectively with customers and team members.

Required Qualifications:

  • A BSc or BA in chemistry or in a related science field or 2-year equivalent experience in an analytical laboratory.  
  • Proficient with lab safety procedures and demonstration of regular contributions to the standard analytical testing and equipment maintenance.         
  • Experience in wet chemistry, reporting of data, and writing progress reports.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 12 months of experience in an analytical laboratory.

Relocation Options:

Relocation will not be considered.

Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
