Chevron is accepting online applications for the position Machinery Reliability Engineer through January 31, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. (Pacific Standard Time).
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to :
- Work to detect and prevent machinery failure through the use of predictive and preventative techniques.
- Develop bad actor resolutions, repair and maintenance strategies, and design alternatives that address health, safety, environmental, reliability, operability, and maintainability issues.
- Use historical operations, reliability and maintenance data in analytical tools and studies to educate business units and project teams on Reliability processes to sustain and improve asset performance.
- Demonstrate fluency in the application and use of Reliability tools and analytical processes, including but not limited to any of the following: Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), streamlined Reliability Centered Maintenance (sRCM), Reliability Availability Maintainability (RAM) modeling, and/or Life Cycle Cost analysis.
- Lead machinery Root Cause Failure Analysis efforts using support tools such as 5-Why, Why-Tree, and Taproot.
- Ensure the system of records are documented accurately and completely with emphasis on root cause identification, scope of repairs, and detailed records of internal or external inspections.
- Ensure engineering design adheres to Refinery, industry, and Corporate specifications. Consider Lifecycle Cost Analysis when selecting new equipment, components, or support systems.
- Provide support to Maintenance, Technical and Operations personnel on development and review of machinery repair checklists, preventive or predictive maintenance checklists, and maintenance or operating procedures as necessary.
- Serve as a liaison between the Richmond Refinery and the Global Manufacturing Reliability organization in matters involving standardization of Reliability tools and processes across the refining system.
- Ability to anticipate, assist, and respond quickly to area business needs that affect safe and reliable operations.
- Participate in turnaround planning, investigations during execution, and look-back studies.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the Energy Industry in technical roles
Preferred Qualifications:
- In-depth understanding of plant machinery processes and their effects on reliability. Demonstrated ability to utilize complex engineering analysis and evaluation techniques, reliability methods and understanding to solve complex, multi-discipline issues.
- Taproot Facilitator
- Experience working with Analysts, Technicians, Maintenance Mechanics, and Operations
