Checkr is seeking an experienced Senior Director, Accounting to lead our accounting and finance team. The Senior Director, Accounting will be responsible for building and coaching the accounting team, liaising with senior management and cross-functional business partners, and building public company-ready processes. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience, hold a CPA license, and have experience working in a public company environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and coach a high-performing accounting and finance team, including hiring, training, and development.
  • Develop and maintain financial controls and policies to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Manage the company's accounting policies and procedures, including the review and approval of accounting transactions.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance to the finance and accounting teams and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement financial systems and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Oversee the external audit process, including the coordination of audit schedules and responses to audit inquiries.
  • Manage and oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, and international accounting teams.
  • Liaise with senior management and cross-functional business partners to support financial analysis and aid decision-making.
  • Build public company-ready processes and systems, including financial reporting, internal controls, and SOX compliance.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • CPA certification required.
  • At least 12 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 7 years in a management role.
  • Experience working in a public company environment.
  • Experience building and coaching high-performing accounting teams.
  • Experience liaising with senior management and cross-functional business partners.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting requirements, including ASC 842, 805, 718, and others as applicable.
  • Experience building public company-ready processes and systems, including SOX compliance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.

We use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop ranges for our roles and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range. If this role is remote, we have listed the top to the bottom of the possible range, but we will specify the target range for an exact location when you are selected for a recruiting discussion. The salary range for this role is $168,402 to $350,520.
