Managing Director, Alternative Investment Product Management

Your Opportunity Schwab clients hold alternative investments spread across privately and publicly registered funds. But as more and more clients are using alternative investments for some portion of their portfolio, we see an opportunity to enhance the services we provide them. The Alternative Investment team is leading this charge. With direct responsibility for the alternative investment client experience at Schwab, this team plays a critical role in the end to end product experience.

Purpose:

The Managing Director of AI product management and HNW client consulting will be a critical member of the AI team, with responsibility for developing and managing the end to end client experience for our retail and RIA channels. They will be responsible for the ongoing strategy for the alternative investment platform across multiple product types: registered non traded funds, unregistered funds and structured products. The individual will manage a client facing sales team that manages ongoing client interactions and on boards new clients. This individual will also play a central role in providing thought leadership for the broader alternative investment business.

What you are good at
  • Build a team of alternative investment experts that can help clients purchase alternative investments within Schwab's HNW retail channel
  • Execute on the retail alternative investment strategy and seek to improve the client experience, identifying and taking end-to-end ownership of initiatives
  • Engage in a RFP process with an alternative investment vendor that can help deliver private investments to retail clients
  • Curate the menu of alternative investments offered and partner with our CSIA research team who performs qualitative and quantitative analysis
  • Gather insights and understand client needs, attitudes and emotions to design and/or position products, services and capabilities
  • Proactively meet with alternative investment and structured product money managers so clients can have access to timely strategies
  • Lead cross functional initiatives, working with key partners in finance, marketing communications, operations, legal, supervision
  • Synthesize data, identify opportunities, make recommendations and create a plan to deliver experiences that meet client needs
  • Expand our current offering through new product development, expanded research tools, and investment insights
  • Manage multiple downstream systems in order to insure a seamless client experience (including proposal systems, performance reporting, client statements, and websites)
  • Coordinate PR activity and write communications for multiple audiences both internal and external
  • Create and deliver presentations to all levels of the organization, including senior management
  • Being a subject matter expert for internal partners from Investor Services and Advisor Services


What you have
  • BA/BS Degree Required
  • MBA would be a definite plus
  • 10+ years of alternative investment experience
  • 3+ years in strategy consulting or product/brand management
  • Exercises excellent independent decision making and problem solving skills
  • Superior verbal, quantitative, organizational, presentation and analytical skills
  • Preferred Qualifications: Series 7, 24 and 66
