Senior Video Producer - Chowhound

Lead video operations for Chowhound, collaborating on, conceptualizing, and executing the video production for our site and across multiple digital social platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Snapchat as a “shreditor” (shooter + producer + editor). Create video that supports Chowhound’s kitchen tips and tricks, “How-to” articles, cooking content, and branded content series.

Work closely with Chowhound’s Executive Editor and Senior Writer to source and develop new video ideas, series, and concepts.

Develop, shoot, edit, and manage a regular video programming lineup within KPI categories across all formats, sites, and platforms (such as owned media, social, and syndication)

Meet video KPI targets set for Chowhound.

Manage and execute our video production shoots, coordinating and collaborating across teams.

Manage the video content budget to create a sustainable and innovative video program.

Coordinate video efforts with Chowhound editorial team, branded content and audience development/analytics teams to improve results and source new ideas to grow views and engagement.

Create and develop relationships with talent in front of and behind the camera.

Develop partnerships with production houses and individuals to create a world-class video network when applicable.

Create, shoot, edit, produce and publish food/cooking videos (approximately 7/week)

Create 5-10 Wochit videos/week

Ability to take existing posts from Chowhound and creatively convert into interesting videos for the web.

Ability to create content quickly, experiment with lots of different formats, and analyze the results of your work.

Produce videos quickly, test/develop new recipes, and keep up with a fast-paced production schedule

Generate ideas for, and experiment with, new formats and content types

Keep track of viral food trends, create content around them, and analyze the results of your work


3-5 years of video production experience with a website, digital advertising agency or online marketing, advertising, or publishing group, with a thorough understanding of online business and publishing models/strategies.

Experience with video production and familiarity with DSLR cameras, lighting, and editing.

Understanding of the social web is paramount: the candidate must understand the nuances of the social ecosystem and what makes video content engaging and shareable

Fast-thinking in a fast-paced environment

Hands-on experience with video creation

Should be able to shoot still food images also with a DSLR.

Be able to shoot from script.

Experience with lighting and music selection.

Entrepreneurial, digitally-savvy, creative, and experimental in approach to problem solving; exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills; high emotional intelligence

Self-motivated and capable of discovering inspiration independently

Strong passion for food/cooking (professional experience is a plus!)

Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects)
