We are seeking a dynamic leader to serve as the Studio Director for our Columbus or Cincinnati studio. The successful candidate will have strong expertise in a broad spectrum of markets, including Corporate, Retail, Hospitality, and Life Sciences. The Studio Director will have direct experience designing and documenting projects in the Midwest region and will be responsible for championing the design and technical excellence in all of the projects that come into the studio. They will have experience identifying and converting project opportunities, developing proposal responses and presentations, and growing a successful Architecture and Interior Design practice. They will be energized by the idea of advancing CBRE's reputation as a design leader in the Ohio/Michigan/Indiana markets. What you'll do

  • Responsible for setting and implementing CBRE Design Collective design standards.
  • Communicate design intent in a clear and compelling way and ensures incorporation of the client's requirements and goals within each design solution.
  • Guide and monitor design activities on all projects and conducts project technical and design reviews.
  • Ultimately responsible for the day-to-day delivery of projects ensuring they are delivered at a high level, on time, and on budget.
  • Identify new business opportunities while developing current client relationships. Seeks out and positions CBRE Design Collective for new projects which may exist or are being formulated.
  • Prepare fee and workload projections for new projects.
  • Lead pursuits and work directly with leadership to develop proposal strategies and positioning for CBRE's other service offerings.
  • Work with the marketing department and fellow Studio Directors in the development of marketing campaigns, materials, webinars, etc. and overall proposal preparation. Provides assistance to the marketing team in the development of standard materials that describe the design portfolio, systems, and processes of the practice.
  • Prepare and review proposals, contracts, and consultant agreements.
  • Develop and nurture positive client relationships.
  • Build strong relationships and interactions with clients, teaming partners, and stakeholders.
  • Represent the company in the marketing of architecture and interior design services. Represent the company in brand awareness and design services.
  • Understand and enforces conditions of each client contract. Is mindful of all that included in our basic services and pays attend to opportunities for additional design service fees.
  • Focuses on the seamless management of the project process, ensuring clarity of requirements, deliverables, timelines, and visibility against fees throughout the project life cycle.
  • Prepare, communicate, and monitor project work plans, budgets, and deliverables for client and internal teams.
  • Ultimately responsible for the financial health of the studio.
  • Recruit, supervise, and promote staff within the studio. Intentionally embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion within the team.
  • Work with the national Studio Directors on staffing needs. Resolve, monitor, and report on staffing levels and utilization.
  • Manage the welfare and development of staff within the studio.
  • Grow staff capabilities through individual technical, management, and design skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you'll need

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from a four-year college or university with a Council for Interior Design Accreditation curriculum, OR a Bachelor's Degree (B.S. or B.Arch) or Master's Degree (M.Arch) in Architecture from a four-year+ college or university with an accredited architectural curriculum (National Architectural Accrediting Board or Canadian Architectural Certification Board).
  • 13+ years of experience.
  • Architecture licensure or Interior Design certification/licensure is required.
  • NCIDQ or NCARB certification is preferred.
  • Relevant professional accreditations including LEED, WELL, etc. are preferred.
  • Strong expertise in a broad spectrum of markets, including Corporate, Retail, Hospitality, and Life Sciences.
  • Direct experience designing and documenting projects and the ability to champion design and technical excellence in all projects.
  • Proficiency with Revit is a must, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with AutoCAD and construction management tools such as Procore are preferred.
  • Experience identifying and converting project opportunities, developing proposal responses and presentations, and growing a successful Architecture and Interior Design practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide Thought and Design Leadership on key projects and programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead project teams and negotiate contracts and business terms with clients.
