CA’s Security Business Unit includes a comprehensive set of solutions to address the growing concern across all enterprises and organizations regarding external and internal threats to their environments and the critical data they contain. Our identity-centric security portfolio allows customers to manage identities and regulate access from the device to the data center, providing a complete, end-to-end, and multi-channel security solution. This empowers customers to centrally manage and control access to applications and data in both on premise and cloud deployments, and across web, mobile and API channels.

As the SVP Software Engineering you will provide vision, leadership and help to define the culture of the organization within the Security BU. You will partner closely with your peers to ensure the organization is building the right things in the right way. You will also work closely with senior and executive leadership to ensure the business and technology objectives of the organization are being met, and you will provide input on long term strategic direction.

About the Role

You will provide guidance and strategic direction and act as a thought leader with primary responsibility for developing and executing innovative strategies to achieve business objectives and meet company goals within the security space.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adapt Software Engineering goals for the product line based on changes in CA strategy; ensure change initiatives are planned and executed in alignment with the desired business outcomes.
  • Develop organizational capacity through staffing, budget/compensation planning, skills development, and acquisition of required tools and technologies
  • Support continuous improvement of Software Engineering capability
  • Sponsor efforts to ensure organization remains focused on customer/market needs
  • Represent CA in industry groups and events to create internal and external awareness of functional solutions
  • Represent company in relations with major customers, suppliers, bankers, government agencies and both channel and alliance partners
  • Serve as a member of senior leadership team, assuming other special projects/assignments as directed by the Chief Product Officer
  • Build and maintain an organization that fosters a growth mind-set in all employees
  • Be a recognized thought leader in Software Engineering and represent Software Engineering in discussions with executive leadership
  • Support the Program Portfolio Management team to develop the portfolio vision and allocate resources to deliver on that vision

How You’ll Stand Out

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and attributes:

  • Typically 15 or more years of experience in software development and management experience in a large software company with at least 10 years in a leadership role
  • Technical expertise with the Security domain is essential. IAM experience is an asset.
  • Proven track record of leading Agile development projects and delivering whole products or product lines to market across the entire lifecycle
  • Demonstrated exemplary personal integrity and ability to build trust within an organization
  • Superior ability to motivate and inspire team members to deliver on commitments
  • Ability to build partnerships and proactively establish a variety of contacts across the organization
  • Ability to proactively recognize and resolve conflict through collaboration and consensus
  • Willingness to take calculated risks, and to support risk taking in others
  • Strong strategic thinking and decision making skills
  • Business travel of approximately 50 percent yearly is expected for this position
  • Bachelor’s degree and an MBA in a related field is preferred
