Job Overview

This position is responsible to oversee and manage the activities of the development services team. Accountable for accomplishments and results of a small region, a subset of a function/division, or a function/division within a region.

Key Responsibilities

Support the release of solutions from the Brand:

  • Support Brand Unit’s Alpha and Beta program’s
  • Remote and on-site support activities
  • Ensure people are ready and trained
  • Encourage and identify reference clients to support the product launch
  • PRIME and Portfolio Governance
  • Ensure people are ready and trained
  • Collect and organize customer feedback
  • Create templates
  • Client relationships
  • Develop and maintain relationships in area of responsibility
  • CA support, engineering, product management relationships
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationship with key individual contributors in each product team
  • CA Sales, Pre-sales and Post sales relationships
  • Understand the engagement process and ensure when engaged you and your team contribute to their success
  • Know applicable solutions well enough to present at customer and trade show forums
  • Know applicable BU solutions well enough to present at customer and trade show forums
  • CA Support process
  • Ensure you and your teams are experts at the process and have access to all the systems and tools needed to contribute as senior support engineers
  • CA Enhancement process

  • Status Reporting
  • Ensure you and your team enter time spent on customers, projects and other tasks into the appropriate reporting systems
  • Oversee the hiring, performance and maintenance of a highly trained staff.
  • Assist in the escalation process (client issues and future functionality).
  • Ensure the team collects, tests, creates and publishes ‘How-to’ and ‘Best Practice’ documents to assist CAS and Partners with the usage and architecture of brand solutions.
  • Manage the teams involvement with CA World activities.
  • Provide support to CA Partners integrating with brand solutions.
  • Have and maintain in-depth architectural knowledge of the applicable BU and be able to:
  • Mentor other team members to improve there skills and knowledge in technology.
  • Architect, present and deploy our solutions with Pre/Post Sales teams at client and partner sites.
  • Analyze partner and competitive products and solutions.
  • Help develop and adapt policies and processes for own group. Recommend for consideration new generations of existing products or product innovations.
  • Align activities and priorities to ensure resource maximization within work group.
  • Analyze and challenge current working methods to create improvements in processes and results.
  • Back up any individual contributors when required.

Develops and implements policies and procedures for the department to meet specific goals and objectives of the function; modifies goals in response to functional changes. Analyzes and challenges current working methods to create improvements in processes and results. Planning time horizon is short.

Job-Specific Authority and Scope

  • Generally works without consulting their manager.
  • Independent decisions are made daily.
  • Examples of typical decisions without manager consultation:
  • Ensure the right process is followed when engaging your team
  • Evaluate and escalate, if necessary, critical issues.
  • Provide appropriate solutions for Sales, CA Services and Customers.
  • Typically has 6-10 direct reports.
  • Typically has a total staff of 2-10.
  • Typically has a geographic focus of Region (APJ/EMEA/LA/NA).
  • Typically manages a total budget of up to $10 million USD.

Business Travel and Physical Demands

Business travel of approximately 50 percent yearly is expected for this position.

Preferred Education

Bachelor’s Degree or global equivalent in Computer Science or a related field.

Work Experience

Typically 7 or more years of industry related experience with industry technology, external applications, network and systems administration. Experience with integration of products to create solutions.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of how the various pre and post sales teams operate in order to progress issues rapidly
  • Technical skills to design, implement, debug and verify a product or solution implementation
  • Develop and deliver classroom training internally and at customer sites
  • Ability to mentor and train technical personnel
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies
