Associate Research Software Engineer – Post-graduate student.
We are looking for a student who has recently graduated with a Master of Science Degree (MSc) in Computer Science with honours and would like to pursue his/her education with a Doctorate Degree – PhD in Computer Science in partnership with CA Technologies and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia – Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. BarcelonaTech (UPC).
This position is for non-experienced MSc that are willing to continue their studies through the PhD.
This role links the postgraduate student much better to industry without disconnecting him or her from university (UPC).
CA Technologies is offering the possibility for the right candidate to continue studying doing a PhDs in CA Technologies.
The main objective for candidates opting to this position is to get a PhD and this role will lead to a full-time position as a researcher at CA Technologies after a few years of studies focusing on the PhD.
The Research Engineer will mostly be still studying and will have commitments that are not necessarily aligned with the needs of CA Technologies. For instance, he or she will need to spend months writing documents that might not be directly relevant for the company, such as for instance their PhD thesis.
Our Research Center: This post-graduate student will join our center of innovation “CA Strategic Research Labs” based in Barcelona, Spain. The aim of CA Labs Europe is to promote research and innovation projects in IT management to meet new and future needs in the enterprise. This experience will enable students in their final years of technical careers to obtain real-world working experience, as well as provide them with opportunities to work with CA Technologies on innovative research in Agile Software Development and DevOps.
The project: This particular project aims at providing technology to set up the basis for a first-of-its-kind agile software development analytics platform, which will enable mechanisms to effectively identify and compute metrics related to people, processes and technology in distributed systems engineering, and will build a set of tools to help organizations to efficiently improve their development and operations, ultimately leading to grow a DevOps culture.
- You hold a Bachelor’s degree in computer Science with a strong focus on software engineering – Ideally a 2:1 from a top University and you are strongly motivated to undertake a PhD in Computer Science in partnership at a top university with a software vendor.
- You have some general knowledge of computer sciences: Unix, Linux, Windows, Oracle etc.
- Advantageous skills would be some knowledge on machine learning algorithms, data analytics and mining and Natural Language Processing algorithms.
- Bright, personable with a desire to work in a collaborative research environment
- EU Nationality or must hold a valid work permit to work in Spain
- Fluent in English is mandatory and proficient in Spanish/Catalan is advantageous.
