Description

As a Health Taxonomist, you'll engage with our many Health teams, including Customer Support, Risk, Trust and Controls, & Access, and Identity. You will help create detailed taxonomies to improve our capabilities in machine learning, enhance the front end user experiences, and streamline functions in our operational workforce. Ideal candidates will be experienced in taxonomy and capable of applying their expertise to multiple domains in a fast moving business ecosystem.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and maintain taxonomies for Cash Health related services and products, including chatbot inquiries, customer support articles and search, risk management, advocate skill types, and customer access and identity.
  • Work closely with machine learning teams to develop labeled data for them to use in their models.
  • Collaborate with Product Data Science, investigate product cohorts to create or expand on data taxonomy labels to meet specific business needs.
  • Work with internal and external partners to ensure that data meets our taxonomic standards.
  • Develop data annotation tasks for data labeling platforms.
  • Diagnose problems, recognize known and emerging patterns and develop compelling, data-driven recommendations
  • Collaborate on and escalate complex cases and new trends within the team, backed by industry knowledge of common financial services and customer service


Qualifications

  • B.S. in Library Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related data or taxonomy discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience working in taxonomy / ontology roles.
  • Experience building taxonomies for engineering, machine learning, product, and/or operational teams.
  • Ability to communicate taxonomic requirements and needs to operational, machine learning, product, and engineering teams.
  • Experience with a variety of topics, domains, and types of taxonomies.
  • Experience with SQL, and the ability to self serve data pulls from existing databases
  • The ability to answer business questions and work independently to drive projects and tasks to conclusion
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Show strong ability to conceptualize, develop, and implement processes
  • Demonstrated flexibility to adapt and able to manage multiple assignments while working independently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated depth of knowledge in the realm of financial services, across banking, P2P, ACH, Remote Deposit Capture, cryptocurrency, lending, investing, etc.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python)
  • Experience with designing and creating data visualizations (e.g. Tableau, Looker)


Additional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $125,600 - USD $153,600
Zone B: USD $116,800 - USD $142,800
Zone C: USD $110,500 - USD $135,100
Zone D: USD $100,500 - USD $122,900

This role is also eligible to participate in Block's equity plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies, and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus.
