Tibco Administrator

Position Description

The Tibco Administrator position is responsible for administering the Tibco server suite, with a primary focus on setup, configuration, monitoring and management of enterprise middleware platforms

Position Requirements

Application setup, configuration, monitoring and management:

  • Maintains the Tibco product environments, including recommending, planning for, and applying updates, maintenance packs, patches and fixes to all environments
  • Prepares implementation plans for application upgrades and may coordinate rollout
  • Monitors server performance and recommends changes as needed. May design performance monitoring systems
  • Works closely with developers, support, DBA and QA teams to design and optimize all Tibco environments
  • Prepares scripts to automate administration tasks
  • Determines standards for Tibco server configuration
  • Works with the application development teams in designing and implementing database and software solutions
  • Responsible for the ownership of assigned environment administration tasks on projects
  • Responsible for off hours' releases of all code and configuration changes to QA and Production environments
  • Ensures that application administration support and development efforts consistently meet CarMax&reg: standards, business requirements and direction
  • Passionate support and ownership of all areas under their responsibility
  • Effectively develops timelines for themselves and others to perform tasks and influences the team's work to be completed within those timeframes
  • Participates in a 24x7 on-call rotation as scheduled and must perform after hours support for the environments as necessary
  • Must effectively categorize support problems and respond with the appropriate level of urgency

Server Administration

  • Developing and promoting standard operations documentation such as procedures, checklists and instructions
  • Ensuring systems adherence and compliance with CarMax security standards and practices
  • System capacity planning
  • Providing 2nd level administrative/engineer support

Experience with the following required:

  • Tibco EMS
  • Tibco Business Works
  • Tibco Hawk
  • Tibco Administrator
  • SOAP, JMS, and SOA development
  • XML concepts, frameworks, and standards
  • Windows Server 2008 or later
  • Windows Batch Programming

Experience with the following preferred:

  • Tibco BE
  • SQL Server 2012 or later
  • Java, XML, HTML
  • PowerShell scripting
  • Ant scripting
  • BizTalk Administration

Systems troubleshooting duties:

  • Able to troubleshoot system errors and work efficiently to resolve issues and mitigate system downtime.

Education and/or Experience:

4-year degree in IT related course of study, preferred

1-3 years' retail industry experience, preferred

1-3 years' experience in MS Windows environments, required

1-3 years' experience in large scalable enterprise systems development, required

1-3 years' experience as Tibco administrator/developer, required

Experience with agile methodologies, preferred
