Sr. Manager, FP&A

Position Description

The Manager of Field Finance will serve as a key leader on the Financial Planning and Analysis team with the ability to effectively partner across the organization. The Manager will be responsible for leading a team of Financial Analysts in: the review and forecasting of store related revenues and expenses; delivering value added financial analysis and reporting to operational partners; and providing financial leadership in managing CarMax towards its strategic goals.
• Leads the monthly review of financial performance to budget, previous year, and previous forecast for the sales and margin section of the P&L

• Leads the monthly financial forecasts, the annual budget, and long-range financial plans for the sales and margin section of the P&L

• Provide partners with financial analysis support and reporting that assists in the management of the business and that actively identifies opportunities and risks:
o Deliver store profitability analysis by leveraging outlier, benchmarking, and trend analysis
o Monitor and communicate new store performance
o Strengthen store ranking reporting, including the methodology
o Deliver assigned budgets

• Supports building and managing towards CarMax's strategic goals by serving as the key financial partner for longer-term initiatives

• Evaluate and strengthen existing financial reporting and tools for the Field

• Manage, lead and develop a team of associates through timely performance feedback delivered during day-to-day observations, file reviews and an annual performance review. Responsible for creating individual development plans and business objectives designed to enhance and assist associate growth

• Create complex financial models and ad hoc analyses to provide greater insights to business partners and leadership

• Prepare and present analysis of various financial topics to different audiences, including the CarMax Executive Leadership team

• BA / BS in Finance or related degree
• MBA a plus
• 7 to 10 years of relevant finance experience, preferably in a multi-unit retail environment
• Excellent analytical, problem solving, and financial modeling skills
• Excellent communication, partnering, presentation and influencing skills
• Excellent computer skills: SQL, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Enterprise Financial Planning Tools (Hyperion, ABS, etc)
• Tableau a plus
• Internal candidates should have successfully completed Senior MAP
