The Senior Analyst, Product Strategy will be responsible for creating and maintaining critical business reporting across 4 major CarMax departments: Sales, Operations, Business Operations, and Merchandising. This role will help the organization by:

  • Standardizing and optimizing the way critical data and information is delivered to our business leaders
  • Seamlessly addressing the reporting needs of our management team
  • Driving efficiencies via automation and streamlining of data flows and processes
  • Serving as a cross-functional data visualization expert

This individual will be a central resource within the Corporate & Store Strategy Department, building cross-functional data knowledge and standardizing the way CarMax leverages data to drive field management decisions. This role is particularly critical now, as CarMax is currently investing in major technology product innovations that will vastly enhance the data available for use in driving business decisions. This role will help us to organize these data sources and leverage them to drive business insights that will help CarMax deliver upon its transformational innovation goals.

  • Building or refining critical business reporting
  • Creating process efficiencies and streamlining foundational data flows across business areas
  • Troubleshooting and addressing key field management data needs and gaps
  • Supporting other analysts as a cross-functional data visualization and coding expert

  • Proficient with coding languages and reporting & data visualization tools; experience with or in-depth knowledge of the following preferred:
    • SQL (required)
    • Python
    • Tableau Business Intelligence tool
    • Microsoft Report Builder
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Microsoft Powerpoint
    • Database experience required
  • Demonstrated ability to visualize data for a broad array of audiences, and understand how data can be used to inform and drive management at all levels
  • Strong organization and project management skills with the ability to own multiple work tracks simultaneously


  • History of achievement demonstrated by BA/BS degree with strong GPA (top 25%) at top-tier school with quantitative major(s) and/or other recognition such as scholarships, awards, and honor societies
  • Advanced degree in a related field a plus
