Role overview

CarGurus is hiring an organized, highly motivated Senior Associate, Strategy & Operations as a part of our Digital Retail team to support the Digital Retail efforts across the organization! You will work cross-functionally to implement critical business initiatives and will have the opportunity to work alongside leadership teams in Sales, Marketing, Business Development, Finance, and Product.  

You’ll not only be helping to guide the strategy, but you’ll also be gaining operational experience in leading projects through to completion. A successful candidate will have strong analytical and presentation skills and can work cross-functionally to implement change.  

We are looking for thoughtful, daringly curious candidates who can dive into sophisticated data and draw insightful conclusions. By helping to clarify elements of our strategy and operations you will have a visible and real-world impact across a wide range of CarGurus’ businesses. 

What you'll do

  • Extract key insights from analyses and presents findings in a compelling way to inform critical business decisions
  • Drive thorough quantitative analyses using internal and external data to support and implement commercial recommendations
  • Conduct in-depth competitive and customer research and deliver insights in a clear and impactful manner to build alignment around commercial recommendations
  • Compile regular reporting deliverables and memos for senior leadership
  • Continuously monitor and understand business performance. Proactively discover problems before they occur and identify opportunities that move the business forward
  • Recommend performance improvement ideas by gathering data and partnering with product, engineering, marketing, sales, and finance departments to help grow our business
  • Own a variety of high-visibility, strategic projects across Digital Retail 

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required
  • 2-3 years of experience, preferably including consulting, investment banking, private equity, SaaS, and/or product strategy and operations
  • Ability to operate at depth and the strategic 50K foot view
  • Strong quantitative skills and experience driving complex analysis from hypothesis generation through execution
  • Ability to influence multiple partners/teams and adopt new data-driven approaches to achieve shared business goals and drive organizational change 
  • Working knowledge of various data analysis, reporting, and CRM tools and comfort in getting up to speed on new tools (e.g., Looker, Salesforce, etc.)
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Sharp critical thinking skills and a love of data and analysis
  • Excellent financial and optimization modeling skillset
  • Outstanding Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel skills
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and thoroughness
  • Familiarity working within a P&L
  • Proven track record of working independently and thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Relentless passion for getting things done
