Corporate Development Guru

As Corporate Development Guru, you will help identify market trends and innovative companies, build team consensus around strategic opportunities, conduct due diligence on acquisition targets, negotiate deal terms, and lead integration of acquired companies. Reporting to the CFO, you will need to think analytically, financially and strategically as you partner with all key constituencies at the company including engineering, sales, marketing and finance.  You’ll be expected to become the resident expert in the auto dealer software market and the consumer internet auto research and shopping industry.  The role is highly cross-functional, requires strong analytical and research skills, the ability to work well with a wide range of types of people, and a passion for innovation.


  • Develop market maps in auto software/internet sectors
  • Identify and educate executives on technology and market trends, disruptive companies, and technology differentiation
  • Research, engage with, and recommend acquisition targets
  • Conduct due diligence and lead negotiations
  • Work with engineering, sales, and product to outline integration strategy and then lead integration process
  • Lead cross-functional research to prioritize CarGurus’ strategic objectives


  • MBA preferred
  • At least five years’ experience in the following roles: venture capital/growth equity, investment banking, corporate development
  • Experience in consumer internet industry preferred
  • Analytical and strategic mindset
  • Creative approach to problem solving
  • Ability to build consensus across teams and influence others
  • Experience identifying companies and negotiating deal
