Staff Software Engineer - Applications Team

This position will need to be based in or near HQ (Redwood City, CA)

As a Full Stack Staff Software Engineer, you will help build our customer-facing software, primarily focusing on web applications that enable users to design, visualize, manipulate, and print digital models. These applications empower the user to innovate and fabricate products across a variety of industries.

You will....
  • Build rich web applications using modern JavaScript frameworks, including React, Three.js, and NestJS that help users design and print 3D digital models
  • Push the limits of browser performance to provide a great user experience. We render and process 3D models with millions of triangles using WebAssembly
  • Collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, product management, and designers to build user interfaces that delight our customers
  • Own and drive projects end-to-end and influence technology and architectural decisions
  • Mentor, educate, and support those around you, as well as be able to grow as a person and leader


You have...
  • Expert knowledge of JavaScript (We use TypeScript)
  • Familiarity with a modern front-end framework (React, Angular, Vue, etc)
  • Experience with HTTP, HTML, CSS and web security concepts
  • Passion for building elegant user interfaces
  • Experience with JavaScript unit testing frameworks
  • Strong communication, debugging, and problem solving skills


Bonus points for ...
  • Experience with graphics and Three.js
  • Experience with databases (SQL)
  • Familiarity with build systems like Webpack and Bazel
  • Worked with other languages we use (C++, python)

At Carbon, we look at the person holistically and carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation.  The pay range for this position is $173,000 - $259,000.  Your actual salary will be based on your experience, work location, certifications and the unique skills you bring to the role. If you are not based in our Redwood City office, the range above will be adjusted for the geographical differential associated with your actual work location.


Carbon also offers to our eligible employees a comprehensive total rewards package that includes equity, benefits, and time off programs.
