Technology Risk Management, Risk Manager

Capital One - a top 10 US bank using technology to bring ingenuity, simplicity, and humanity to banking - needs Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Risk managers to help drive its data transformation. In this role, you'll collaborate with a team of 1-2 associates focused on identifying SOX control changes and process updates needed as we transform the way we consume and store data. You will work side-by-side with product owners and other Agile team members who are identifying ways to improve SOX control performance through the use of technology and implementation of industry best practices. And you will do it all in an environment that values your insight, encourages you to take on new responsibility, promotes continuous learning, and rewards innovation!

Responsibilities:

  • Will help drive first line governance work around transforming data that supports our financial processes within Tech, including creating a road map, tracking progress against that road map, identifying and escalating issues timely, and influencing across the Tech lines of business to implement and update controls as necessary
  • Identify opportunities to improve Tech SOX processes in the first line
  • Assist process owners in the development of controls to mitigate technology risks on key initiatives such as Cloud, Data Transformation, DevOps
  • Look for opportunities to automate manual technology controls
  • Coordinate with other Agile teams to escalate and/or resolve impediments, dependencies, risks/issue
  • Leverage data to measure and monitor progress against commitments
  • Foster a culture of openness, collaboration, and continuous improvement


Ourideal candidate:
  • Can demonstrate SOX, technology risk/governance, or audit experience
  • Familiar with COSO Framework and definition of internal controls
  • Experience with data governance and data management principles
  • Can quickly understand new applications and technologies
  • Can deliver process management outputs and drive improved execution
  • Familiarity with AWS and Cloud controls
  • Understands application development and operation support in a DevOps environment
  • Strong communication skills coupled with strategic influencing skills and the ability to drive agreement
  • Enjoys being on high profile projects in a fast-paced environment


Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor Degree or Military experience

- At least 5 years of experience with SOX, risk, compliance or audit

- At least 5 years of working with technology

Preferred Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, MIS, or Computer Science

- Certifications including CISA, CRISC, CISSP, CRMA

- 2+ years of experience in financial services

- 1+ years of experience with Tableau
