Capital One is building a next-generation banking experience: one that blows past the industry status quo and delivers a world-class digital experience that resonates with how consumers live their lives. To do that, Capital One needs to expand its suite of services far beyond what normal banks expect of themselves.

Capital One is looking for a Technical Product Manager that will be tasked with building brand new products that translate the way banks talk into the way humans live. Currently, these new products and features live primarily outside of the core banking experience, but that needs to change.

We aim to imbed intuitive, personalized moments into all of our digital experiences. This will involve building and embedding machine learning into our digital applications, and investing in data infrastructure, data storage, and associate tools that enable rapid development and testing of machine learning algorithms.

We are looking for an experienced technical product manager to oversee US Card's modernized capabilities through which external data is brought in house and used in all aspects of our decision-making processes. This role is focused on extending those capabilities to fully replace legacy infrastructure while simultaneously building the capacity to ship faster, learn more, interact more intelligently, and ultimately reinvent banking.

What you'll do:

  • Work with digital product managers, business leads, and architecture to determine data capabilities that need to be built to support the next-generation of intelligent and intuitive customer experiences.
  • Manage the construction of these capabilities, either by building on existing services or building new with open source technologies
  • Develop the strategy for building and evolving services into full-fledged products
  • Deliver iterative value that minimizes uncertainty and mitigates risk through to production and eventually scale
  • Define and report on key value and delivery metrics
  • Plug into the broader technology and research ecosystem to identify emerging approaches to advance our goals

What you'll bring:
  • A bias toward action and a proven track record of delivering minimum viable products to market at rapid speed
  • Excellent communication skills to navigate a matrixed organization, tell compelling stories with ease to senior executives, and inspire teams about things that should exist that don't exist yet
  • Ability to proactively identify impediments on the critical path and remove them
  • A structured problem-solving approach to help a team work through a wide range of issues
  • Intellectual curiosity for emerging technologies and engineering challenges
  • Ability to prioritize across different types of value dimensions
  • Ability to actively seek out multiple opinions, yet make independent decisions and influence positive outcomes
  • Ability to keep the crowd warmed up while the team fixes the broken demo

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or military experience
  • At least 1 year of working with an Agile delivery methodology

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or Applied Statistics, or equivalent engineering, programming, or quantitative background
  • 1+ year of experience managing cross-functional teams
  • 1+ year of experience in program management
  • 5+ years of experience managing products from inception to production
  • 2+ years of experience in shipping product
  • 1+ year of experience in platform management, software development, data technologies or AWS

At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.
