Student Banking Project Coordinator - Community Development Banking

The Student Banking Project Coordinator ("Coordinator") will manage the daily administrative needs of the Student Banking Program. The Program includes four student-run branches operating in high schools in the Bronx and Harlem in New York; Newark, New Jersey and Prince George's County in Maryland. The Coordinator will be directly responsible for leading programmatic components and organizing financial literacy efforts.

The Coordinator will act as a role model for Student Ambassadors participating in the program who are seeking a better future. A successful coordinator will inspire program participants to modify their behavior, influence their academic achievements and better their financial resiliency.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with Retail and Community Development team members to recruit, identify and on-board candidates for the Student Banking internship including:
    • Hold resume writing workshops
    • Support Student Ambassador Leaders with respect to all requisite documentation
    • Recruit interviewers
    • Lead interviews and deliberations
    • Interface with HR Compliance Risk to ensure proper on-boarding
    • Create Student Ambassador summer training schedule


  • Lead and facilitate the robust Student Banking financial education curriculum and support the deployment of money management presentations in the school community
    • Teach two full-day seminars of financial literacy during the summer
    • Support Student Ambassador Leaders as they prepare Student Ambassadors to teach financial literacy curriculum after school starts
    • Assist Student Ambassador Leaders in scheduling financial literacy roll outs
    • Attend and monitor financial literacy roll out with Student Ambassadors
    • Manage all aspects of the annual Student Ambassador budget competition, including
      • Work with students to prepare budgets
      • Practice presentation skills
      • Schedule local budget competition at each school
      • Collaborate with Student Ambassador Leaders on selection of judges
  • Create Student Banker enrichment activities and ensure that the Student Ambassadors are prepared for such activities
  • Review consent forms, behavior guidelines
  • Support Student Banking College Advisory including reviewing essays and ensuring progress
  • Collect Student Banking data and enter it into a data repository
  • Other duties as assigned


A successful candidate will:
  • Have excellent presentation and facilitation skills
  • Be confident in public speaking and have the ability to meaningfully engage an audience
  • Knowledge of credit, budgeting and savings
  • Have excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Have excellent judgment and problem solving skills with the expectation to provide programmatic suggestions and feedback
  • Have technological proficiency to support presentations and use of digital tools
  • Have the ability to manage multiple projects at once and adapt to rapidly changing priorities
  • Have exceptional written / verbal communication, presentation and influencing skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Have the flexibility to travel up to 20% of the time, to the Student Banks in 4 locations in NY, NJ and MD


Basic qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, Military Experience, GED or Equivalent Certification
  • At least one year of work experience in program administration or program management


Preferred qualifications:
  • 2-4 years of work experience in program administration or program management
  • experience in human resources including recruiting, interviewing and development
