Sr. Manager, DevOps Engineering (Big Data)

We're currently hiring for data engineering positions within the acquired Monsoon team at Capital One. Our team DNA is a startup, but we have enterprise support. You won't just be executing a mile-long backlog of tickets – you'll be coming up with new ways to make Capital One successful.

This position is for leadership on a data engineering effort we are freshly spinning up.

We're developing a series of micro-services for collecting and making decisions on transaction data in real time. We're going to be working with Scala, Kafka, maybe Docker, on AWS, to name a few exciting pieces. The biggest cherry on top: there's a lot of work that needs to be built from scratch.

What you'll work on:

Leading a team in developing a transaction data pipeline for a brand new product and use case

Developing microservices for collecting and enriching transaction data

Developing microservices for making decisions (machine learning and non-machine learning) on transaction data

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or military experience

At least 8 years' experience in software development

At least 2 years' experience managing software engineers

At least 2 years' experience as a technical lead on a team

At least 2 years' experience working in agile teams

At least 2 years' experience building production applications in AWS

At least 2 years' experience with Scala, Data Engineering

Preferred Qualifications:

2 years' experience with functional programming in Clojure or Haskell or Scala

1 years' experience with machine learning engineering

1 years' experience with building microservices

1 years' experience with containers such as Docker
