As a Data Services Engineering Manager

We're looking for talented individuals and the experience below are only a guide to what we're looking for. If you don't have them all but think this role is for you, we'd really like to hear from you.

What you'll do:

Lead a cross-functional group of engineers to design, develop and integrate services for Data Scientists, Data Stewards and other interested parties.

Coach your engineers on how to achieve their technical, business and personal goals.

Collaborate with product and quality engineering managers to deliver features on the product roadmap.

Build platforms that are performant, reliable, scalable and secure.

Enhance the engineering and agile delivery processes with the team.

Develop effective relationships with associates in the US to utilise and influence Enterprise services.

What we're looking for:

You have experience in leading an engineering team to achieve business goals.

You have excellent knowledge of programming languages such as Java, C#, Scala or similar.

You have a history of using distributed data platforms like EMR, Hadoop or Spark.

You are able to compare and contrast various data-related formats such as Parquet or Avro.

You have experience of various database technologies such as SQL, NoSQL and related query languages.

You are deeply self-motivated with a hands-on approach to development and team management.

You are excited by the cloud and the opportunities that it brings.

You are comfortable in reaching technical trade-offs between short-term team and long-term business needs.

You have a passion for recruiting and developing great engineering talent.

You are willing and excited to get into the guts of a completely data-driven, highly regulated industry with a lot of existing complexity.

You are a strong communicator and partner well across engineering to maximise inner-sourcing opportunities and reduce waste.
