Senior Process Manager, Credit Review (Central Services)

Credit Review is a third line of defense team, providing independent credit risk assurance to Capital One's Board of Directors and to Regulators. The Credit Review Central Services Team is a horizontal support function, responsible for Board and other executive reporting; annual planning and budgeting; quality assurance testing; review findings ("Issues") and credit related MRA tracking, development and maintenance of Credit Review Policy, Standards and Procedures; Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) control testing, and the organization and execution of department-wide activities.

A Senior Process Manager, Credit Review Central Services (CRCS), is primarily responsible for managing or providing support for a variety of horizontal Central Services processes; being a key participant in, or leading select process enhancement activities; as well as supporting key day-to-day infrastructure-related activities. He or she is expected to maintain high professional ethical standards, and work independently under general supervision.

Monitor, report and plan process improvement or redesign initiatives, and make recommendations on changes. Collect and analyze data for supporting recommendations and manage formal process documents. Collaborate on project teams and broader enterprise initiatives to represent business for changes that may impact department processes.

General Responsibilities:

  • Day to day oversight of multiple processes: monitor, report, and plan process improvement or redesign initiatives; define, establish, and manage process controls; identify process improvement opportunities and implement them through collaboration with other groups such as the Risk office, BRO and management; make final recommendations for approval on changes.
  • Collect, analyze and measure process data, to initiate sustainable business practices and procedures and for reporting to senior leadership and executives; review data for trends and gaps in the process that may require additional review.
  • Resolve complex problems or transactions, where expertise is required to interpret against policies, guidelines or processes; escalate breakdowns in the process by asking the right questions and identify/ involve the right stakeholders to correct breakdowns.
  • Maintain formal process documents (e.g. procedures and diagrams), and document processes and projects (creating project reports, presentations, business cases, and diagrams)
  • Collaborate on larger initiatives, including representing department on broader change control forums for input and to represent department interests; may challenge forum decisions if project outcome impacts department processes. May participate in cross-functional project teams, including projects driven by other parts of the organization, to provide input, liaise with training, and partner with groups on execution efforts.
  • Coach and train junior PM levels on processes, performance targets and goals
  • Provide customer service and training to internal customers on specific processes they manage; may deliver presentations, including up to the executive level.
  • May direct the work of associates, including performance management, hire and fire responsibilities
  • May perform process or parts of the process as needed

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to -

  • Responsible for various components of Credit Review processes, including the generation and/or publishing of internal and external reporting, management of team Policies, Standards, and Procedures, issue tracking, credit related MRA tracking, and oversight of SOX testing
  • Manages or assists in the management of monthly team budget tracking; exam and/or audit preparation, and other key processes, as assigned
  • Typically works independently under the guidance of the Head of Central Services

  • Ability to compile data from multiple sources under tight timelines, and summarize it accurately for management reporting
  • Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point skills
  • Ability to post documents to the document repository, control user access to select folders/documents, and teach others to become effective users
  • Ability to effectively balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility in responding to changes in assignment and job responsibility
  • Can effectively work as a member of an engaged team
  • Clear Verbal and Written Communication with peers and senior stakeholders
  • Effectively communicates findings and recommendations to supervisors.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification, or Military experience
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • At least two years of experience in Business Process Management or at least 2 years of Project Management experience or at least 2 years of Relationship Management experience or at least 2 years of Risk Management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Lean, Agile, Six Sigma, Business Process Management, or Project Management certification
