Senior Manager Software Engineer

Capital One is actively seeking experienced Technical Lead with expertise in detailed technical design and development of applications using existing and emerging technology platforms. Successful candidates will have hands-on experience of building APIs using Java technologies with responsibility for overall delivery of software components. As a technical lead and senior manager, you will own end-to-end delivery of software components from inception to production and provide technical leadership/supervision to other engineers and manage team of 5-10 engineers


  • Own technical design and development of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems
  • Collaborating with other platforms tech leads to ensure integrated end-to-end design and delivery
  • Work with business partners, architects, and other groups to identify technical and functional needs of system and determine priority of needs
  • Proactive monitoring of applications and services
  • Perform complex engineering activities for performance tuning and monitoring
  • Identifying gaps and taking actions to completion
  • Provide functional, technical, and process leadership
  • Lead engineers by example
  • Presenting at communities of practices and conferences
  • Be a technology evangelist and thought leader
  • Able to break down problems in production environment to analyze, understand and resolve
  • Understands how evolving technology affects domain; stays current and leads team through new technologies
  • Responsible for key system design and integration decisions; and for communicating decisions to individuals implementing the system
  • Provide mentoring and coaching for direct reports career growth

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience
  • At least 10 years of SDLC experience using Java EE technologies for Middleware and Backend Integration
  • At least 5 years of experience in developing RESTful APIs using Spring or Jersey deploying on public cloud
  • At least 3 Year experience RDBMS, SQL, No-SQL, RDS, PostgreSQL, MongoDB or DynamoDB
  • At least 2 years of experience leading other Software Engineers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in People Management with responsibilities of direct reports coaching, mentoring and performance management
  • 5+ years in Cloud technologies AWS, Azure, OpenStack, Docker, Ansible, Chef or Terraform
  • 5+ years in Build and CICD technologies lSVN, GitHub, Maven, Jenkins, Nexus or Sonar
  • 5+ years in Quality Assurance technologies ATDD, Selenium, Cucumber, JUnit, SoapUI and Postman
  • 5+ years in Unix Shell Scripting
  • 5+ years with HP Diagnostics, JMeter, Splunk, BlueStripe, CloudWatch or Zabbix
  • 5+ years with Agile methodologies Scrum, SAFe, and Kanban
  • 3+ years using scripting languages Ruby, Python or Perl
  • 3+ years with Open-Source or public GitHub projects
  • Certified in Java, Spring or AWS technologies
