Senior Manager, Communication Strategy & Project Lead ~Corporate Audit Services (CAS)

As Senior Manager for Communications and Project Management in the Chief of Staff Office for CAS, you will be responsible for the departmental Communications Strategy, supporting the Chief Audit Officer's communications needs (both internal and external) as well as her Diversity and Inclusion commitments.

You will be responsible for ongoing strategic communications within the department, leading innovative internal communications about Audit's vision, objectives and third line assurance responsibilities. Building an inclusive culture and working with senior leadership to support initiatives that further Capital One's commitment to diversity and inclusion is also a key role of this position. You will work closely with the CAO and Chief of Staff team to plan and execute D&I events and projects supporting the CAO. You must be a forward-thinking and dynamic professional, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, make informed decisions, influence at all levels of the organization and deliver achievable and measurable results, in support of our CAS and the CAO's objectives. The ideal candidate should not only be passionate about delivering meaningful solutions, but also develop rigorous goal-setting, and continuous improvement disciplines.

We are looking for candidates with strong experience in:

  • Leading with data-driven, impactful communications strategies
  • Partnering with senior leadership to develop thoughtful, creative communications and thought leadership efforts
  • Managing senior executive's keynote presentation opportunities and corresponding preparations
  • Collaborating with partners and stakeholders to develop fresh new angles for storytelling and writing engaging and compelling content for various communication channels
  • Exceptional written/verbal communications skills
  • Diversity and Inclusion initiatives and programs; driving key efforts on behalf of executive and senior leaders
  • Ability to present complex subject matter in a clear, concise, and compelling manner;
  • Proven ability to work effectively with multiple constituents, including peers, executive management, and senior management;
  • The ability to think outside the box / creatively to integrate problem-solving and structured thinking;
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills, analytical and project management skills and attention to detail
  • Strong presentation skills;
  • The ability to work as part of a team, in an open and collaborative environment, and stay calm under intense pressure to manage rapidly changing priorities.


Responsibilities:
  • Build and execute communications strategy and plans for the Corporate Audit Services department and the CAO.
  • Strategize, manage and support speaking engagement requests for the CAO, including preparation, execution and support of all requests.
  • Manage BAU communication activities for the department which include regulatory requirements as well as general associate communication needs.
  • Support the CAO's diversity and inclusion initiatives and responsibilities to deliver flawlessly executed processes and programs. Plan and execute D&I events and projects in support of the CAO's responsibilities.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in communications or at least 5 years of experience in journalism or combination of both
  • At least 5 years of Diversity & Inclusion, Human Resource, Corporate Social Responsibility or Non-profit Advocacy experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in Process or Project management
  • At least 3 years of experience with Google Suite products, Adobe, communication measurement and analysis tools


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree
  • At least 6 years of communications/journalism experience
  • At least 6 years of Diversity and Inclusion experience
  • At least 6 years of experience in Project/Process management including Agile, Lean and Six Sigma certification
