Risk Manager, Enterprise Banking and Payment Authority, Richmond, VA

One of the most impactful groups in the Commercial Operations team is the Enterprise Payments and Treasury Operations (EPTO) team. Our work can range from opening corporate bank accounts, processing Wires to ACH to disbursements as well as transactions for our client treasury products. The team is currently growing and searching for a Manager of the Enterprise Banking and Payment Authority team.

As a Risk Manager, you will have responsibility for partnering with stakeholders across the enterprise to produce strategy, governance and effective risk management over our policy, standards and processes. You will be responsible for working with business leaders, risk offices and process owners to provide consultation on corporate Bank Account services, risks, governance, business continuity and controls. The Risk Manager in the Enterprise Banking and Payment Authority team will to partner with each Line of Business to understand their business strategy, roadmap and risk tolerances. This knowledge will be leveraged in order to successfully consult with LOB leaders to create transparency to corporate bank account services and associated risks. You will offer service options to facilitate thoughtful business decisions that enable business growth while ensuring compliance to bank standards and facilitating risk and control oversight. The candidate is a strong relationship builder, forward thinking, quick to adapt and learn and technologically adept.

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Collaborates and consults with LOBs, Risk Offices, and other partners to formulate a comprehensive corporate bank management fulfilment strategy that supports business strategy while simultaneously minimizing risk
  • Creates transparency with business stakeholders to risks and cost trade-offs, emerging risk in the banking and payments value stream and business continuity
  • Stays current on emerging risks across the Banking and Payment Value Chain, including an overall understanding of the impacts to Capital One's banking and payment authority processes
  • Builds and maintain strong relationships with 2nd Lines of Defense partners, Payment Platform and Process oversight
  • Responsible for revisions, socialization and business compliance to the Banking Policy, Standards and Payment Authority processes.
  • Collects data and information and uses analytics and reporting to provide transparency of risks to senior leadership and executives
  • Assesses and implements enhancements to process controls, including SOX, Reg W and other regulations
  • Liaises with Capital One lines of business and support units to evaluate banking and payment authorities needed to support the business


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree or Military Experience
  • At least 1 year of experience in a Risk or Compliance Management
  • At least 2 years of experience in banking or payment systems
  • At least 2 years of experience in project/process management


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters Degree or Military Experience
  • At least 4 years of experience in Compliance or Risk Management
  • At least 4 years of experience in Business, Payment or Banking Strategy Development
