Release Train Engineer / Agile Transformation Leader

We are looking for a passionate and action oriented Release Train Engineer / Agile Transformation Leader to rollout and strengthen the Scaled Agile Framework. You will work closely with leaders and Agile teams, while partnering with Agile coaches across the organization to increase the flow of work and remove challenges. You will be expected to facilitate the continued adoption, delivery improvement and maturation of Agile practices. If you are passionate about Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), understand Agile best practices, comfortable with autonomously leading a matrix team into Agile maturity, an Agile purist at heart but a realist in implementing it this is the perfect opportunity for you!


  • Solid understanding of agile best practices, roles and responsibilities including Product Manager, Product Owner, Scrum Master, and Release Train Engineer.
  • Lead a heavily matrix and geographically dispersed team of Scrum Masters.
  • Identify root causes that impede the flow of work and clearly articulate the impacts of the root causes to leaders.
  • Teach/Mentor/Coach teams and leaders on SAFE practices, roles, artifacts and ceremonies.
  • Lead the Product team into effectively managing the backlog.
  • Work with the Product team to aggregate Program PI objectives and publish them for visibility and transparency.
  • Protect the new SAFe Train from over committing and comfortably push back on requests that risk the delivery of scope without burning bridges.
  • Clear understanding of Agile and SAFe and ability to identify the right Agile cadence based on the type of work e.g. Kanban vs. Scrum.
  • Manage S2 and S3.
  • Facilitate release planning events.
  • Define, implement, and lead Scrum teams on tracking PI completion with the right program level metrics such as velocity, story points, lead times, cycle times, etc.
  • Build clear program level dependencies across mobile, technology and business teams for successful release of the product / platform.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous operational and/or team improvements.
  • Assist with economic decision making by facilitating Epic/Feature estimation by teams and rollup to program level visibility.
  • Good judgment on escalation of impediments and management of risks.
  • Partner with Product Management, Product Owners and Business Owners to help assure strategy and execution alignment.
  • Bring industry knowledge from the Agile community.
  • Exhibit outstanding influencing skills to effectively drive process implementation, standardization and simplification.
  • Display a passion for coaching and developing a team of associates.
  • Articulate in communicating and form an excellent partnership with key stakeholders and customers at all levels (SA to VP) to manage, inform and influence outcomes.
  • Assist Scrum and Kanban teams to improve delivery performance through coaching and mentoring on team roles, tools, processes and ceremonies.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Military experience.
  • At least 3 years of Project or Process Management experience.
  • At least 1 year experience as an Agile Coach.
  • At least 1 year experience implementing Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Project/Process Management experience.
  • 2+ years experience as an Agile Coach.
  • 2+ years experience implementing SAFe.
  • PMP, Lean, Agile, Scrum, ACI Coaching or Six Sigma certification
