Principal Process Manager, Accounting for Payment and Travel Solutions

As a Process Manager, (Principal Associate) at Capital One, you will be part of a smart, talented team responsible for creating and enhancing processes that deliver excellence to your customer each and every time. The Process Manager Associate will play a key role in delivering processes that impact the company's bottom line. In this position you will contribute immediately while strengthening your process management best practices.

The Principal Associate leading the Payments and Cash Management team within Payment and Travel Solutions (PATS) will be responsible for managing Capital One's disbursement cycle, which disburses in excess of $7B annually. This process manager will manage a team of on-and off-shore resources that are responsible for both the end-to-end operational components related to payment disbursement and the accounting and tax reporting impacts of that work.

Responsibilities within this value stream include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading and owning oversight of smaller process improvement work and collaborating with teammates on larger initiatives
  • Collecting data and information and using analytics and reporting to provide transparency to senior leadership and executives
  • Identify and implement process improvements driving issue resolution/risk mitigation activities
  • Tracking and resolving process breakdowns
  • Vendor set-up, pay cycle processing, stop/void/reissue requests, escheatment, positive pay, payment returns, inter-unit wires and sales and use tax oversight.
  • Understanding payment needs and implementing new disbursement channels, while also advising the broader PATS team on accounting impacts related to the PATS processes.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert to effectively partner with project customers to achieve desired outcome or improvement by clarifying needs and providing appropriate solutions
  • May lead a team and/or direct others on projects
  • Demonstrate an ability to be successful in a constantly changing environment – while also helping to lead his/her team through change for a number of projects.
  • Developing and maintaining formal process documentation including procedures and process flow diagrams

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or Military experience
  • At least 3 years of process management experience
  • At least 1 year of expense management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree
  • Project Management certification, or Six Sigma certification, or Business Process Management certification
  • 2+ years of of experience in Compliance or Risk Management
  • 3+ years of experience in expense management
  • 4+ years of experience in Process Management
  • 4+ years of Accounting experence or 4+ years of Finance experience
