Principal Associate, Risk & Compliance Management ~ Career Development Center (CDC)

Capital One has a team of associates dedicated to the personal and professional growth of all associates called the Career Development Center (CDC). The CDC provides all associates with unlimited access to career coaching, resume writing, interview preparation, as well as virtual and in-person training classes on career development and job search-related topics.

This Risk and Compliance Management role on the CDC team encompasses a variety of program, process, and project management-type responsibilities. Responsibilities include providing consulting services to the Career Development Center team, as well as Human Resources and line of business leaders, on how to best support the business and our associates in times of organizational change. The individual in this role will provide subject-matter expertise in the areas of risk and compliance management as well as organizational restructuring. This role involves making recommendations and influencing the support model for associates impacted by restructuring activities, managing the logistics associated with restructuring events, including third-party management of suppliers, and ensuring accurate data management and well-managed process execution. Responsibilities also include accountability for meeting the legal and compliance-related requirements associated with reductions in force, such as creating appropriate legal disclosures and government notices. It also includes designing, documenting, and monitoring CDC processes to ensure compliance with policy and all applicable federal and state laws.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for HR leaders to document and design the organizational planning process for restructuring events
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for HR and business leaders regarding CDC processes and resources for associates
  • Manage all CDC logistics and operations associated with assigned organizational restructuring events
  • Design, document, and monitor CDC processes to ensure compliance with policy and all applicable federal and state laws
  • Review and provide feedback on planning and decisioning tools to ensure appropriate documentation and compliance with policy and law
  • Analyze reduction in force events to identify when it is necessary to create legal disclosures and government notices for the event, and then own the creation and distribution of these documents
  • Provide recommendations on associate support programs and engage third-party supplier to deliver support resources
  • Participate in leader preparation activities and associate notification support
  • Manage on-site CDC set-up, in partnership with internal and external partners, and manage on-site supplier resources
  • Facilitate training presentations on the CDC process for HR and line of business leaders
  • Ensure accurate data management and well-managed processes
  • Provide status updates and metrics to key stakeholders


Manage special projects, as needed:
  • Continually improve the products and experience for the customers of the CDC
  • Proactively assess the need for process and/or program improvements and make recommendations to leadership
  • Manage enhancement projects within team and cross-functionally


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in Program Management or 2 years of experience in Project or Process Management or 2 years of experience in Strategic Consulting
  • At least 2 years of experience in Risk or Compliance Management


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5 years of experience in Program Management
  • 5 years of experience in Project and/or Process Management
  • 5 years of experience in Strategic Consulting
  • 5 years of experience in Risk or Compliance Management
