Principal Associate, Program Manager

Enterprise Merchant Insights is a team of product managers, data scientists and engineers who are passionate about enabling data driven products and analyses that form and inform the future of Capital One. We develop APIs, data platforms, and tools for Capital One to realize and apply transaction and merchant-related insights.

The program manager role is integral to maintaining an efficient, effective, and happy organization. The individual in this role will create, adapt and enforce systems, process, and rituals to enable teams to be high performing with clarity, transparency, and minimal friction.

This individual is comfortable with complex organizations and has a proven track record of creating flexible structure, adaptive processes, and measurable goals within ambiguous environments.

Primary Responsibilities Include

  • Serve as the Program Manager for EMI that includes 3 data products/platforms and 2 large internal engagements that are maintained by teams in NY and SF
  • Work closely with external teams to ensure shared business objectives are realized
  • Maintain and share a consolidated EMI roadmap
  • Act as an agile coach; Display a passion for coaching and developing a team of associates through their leadership style
  • Work with a Scrum Master to ensure daily operational management and coordination needs are met related to delivering enterprise platform tools and services
  • Create standards ranging from communication and rituals to process and tools
  • Foster a motivating culture of openness, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Establish clear, consistent processes to gather data and feedback on operational effectiveness.
  • Partner with product, data science, and engineering teams to ensure smooth delivery and effective external communication throughout the product lifecycle
  • Escalate and/or resolve impediments, risks, and issues; looking for ways to help the team meet commitments


Additional Responsibilities Include

  • Identify and fill gaps across all phases of project management including feasibility, definition, planning, prioritization, implementation and close out of projects
  • Effectively applying project management methodology and standards to ensure smooth delivery of commitments
  • Displaying teamwork, communication, negotiating and leading across all levels
  • Working with cross functional teams and influences others to work toward common goal, regardless of resource and time constraints
  • Creating transparency and fostering relationships to adjacent teams.


Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience
  • At least 3 years of experience managing technology teams in an Agile environment


Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills - ability to establish metrics and utilize data to measure operational efficiency, team health, and partnership effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
  • High degree of organizational skills and ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously; prioritizes based on impact and makes difficult tradeoffs to meet deadlines.
  • Effective communicator - ability to create clarity amongst diverse groups from team members to stakeholders.
  • Supporting the overall ecosystem of team EMI and its partners.
  • Knowledge management, for organization, discovery and inference
  • Handling of streaming data and temporal analytics
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
