Principal Associate - Operational Risk Management, TPM Validation

As part of Operational Risk Management (ORM), you'll work with talented associates to provide oversight and effective challenge to ensure that our businesses effectively manage operational risk. This includes enabling our organizations to maintain a sustainable and holistic operational risk profile in order to deliver superior products while also protecting our customers. You'll also bring your unique perspective and experiences to help us be rigorous, curious and creative.

In a highly-regulated industry, large companies like Capital One need to be exceptionally diligent with their processes, controls and procedures to operate effectively and manage risk appropriately. To help ensure that those are all well-designed and executed, we have a dedicated Validation Team. This group of professionals provides second-line oversight, partnership and effective challenge to help our first-line businesses partners better understand their areas of operational risk and assure management that key requirements are being met.

Successful Principal Risk associates possess integrated and creative problem solving skills, solid business judgment, and process or project management experience. They will have exposure across lines of business in order to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to Capital One. Principal Risk Associates will develop a deep appreciation for overall operational risk, our Regulatory Environment and the importance of a strong risk management framework to the banking industry and Capital One

Specific responsibilities include and are not limited to:

  • Risk Consulting to one or more Business Areas relative to their business lines and provide advice and guidance as required
  • Develop and leverage key relationships with stakeholders that enable collaboration across the enterprise
  • Identify and manage tasks and events related to proactive risk management initiatives to reduce the residual risk within the business; partner with applicable business areas to define/ implement remediation activities
  • Manage, implement and deliver on Enterprise Supplier Management horizontal assessment program deliverables including communications, writing and editing policies, procedures, applicable risk management plans, audit remediation responses, etc.
  • Initiate and own process improvements and leveraging other team members and team leaders when appropriate

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in Project Management, Business Process Management, or Risk Management

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of experience in Third Party Management
  • 4+ years of experience in Project Management or 4+ years of experience in Process Management
  • 4+ year of Risk Management experience
  • Certified Risk Manager (CRM) or DRI BC (Business Certification)
  • 1 year experience or proficient experience creating and maintaining information in Google Suite Products (Slides, Sheets, etc.)
  • Experience in Microsoft Office products (PowerPoint, Excel)
