Lead Software Engineer - Artificial Intelligence Algorithms

As a Lead Software Engineer - Artificial Intelligence Algorithms at Capital One, you will leverage your extensive and deep technical knowledge of Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) approaches, methodologies, and algorithms to innovate, build, and maintain well-managed data and software solutions and capabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deploy end-to-end and full stack software solutions involving ML algorithms and Big Data (BD) platforms and technologies.
  • Provide expertise in data fusion techniques and data transformation methodologies.
  • Demonstrate and leverage expertise in DevOps procedures and policies.
  • Perform unit tests and conduct reviews with other technical team members to ensure that the code is rigorously designed, elegantly coded, and effectively tuned for performance.
  • Lead multiple software development initiatives at any given time.
  • Explore, analyze, and interpret data across a variety of databases and formats (e.g. SQL, NoSQL, AWS S3, JSON, Redis, neo4j, etc.) and data platforms (e.g. Streaming Data Platform, Kafka, Logstash, Teradata, Hadoop and related tools such as Pig, Hive, Impala, etc.) for efficient ML feature extraction and data transformations.
  • Keep abreast with industry trends and leverage expertise to influence others' adoption of new technologies into their respective initiatives, demonstrating mature leadership skills to guide technical conversations internally and across cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Provide active mentorship and guidance to junior members of the Agile Tech team.
  • Define, establish, and execute against strategic technical management business delivery roadmaps, actively managing data risks, issues, and impediments.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree
  • At least 5 years of open source software development experience in Python
  • At least 2 years of open source software development experience in TensorFlow
  • At least 5 years of software capabilities development experience in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, or Artificial Intelligence algorithms
  • At least 5 years of experience in data extraction, data transformation and data analysis with AWS
  • At least 2 years of experience with Streaming Data Platforms
  • At least 3 years of experience in Continuous Integration/Continuous Development, Test Automation, Build Automation, and Test-Driven Development to enable the rapid delivery of working code utilizing Jenkins, Maven, Nexus, Chef, Terraform, Ruby, Git, or Docker in cloud computing environments
  • At least 3 years of experience leading direct or matrixed Agile software development teams; working closely with internal and external stakeholders and cross-functional teams of Software/Data Engineers, Data Scientists, Analysts, Data Architects


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics discipline
  • At least 6+ years of individual contributions (academic or professional) in Predictive Analytics, Supervised/Unsupervised Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Deep Learning algorithms.
  • 6+ years of direct experience with open source code/programming design, development, implementation, deployment, de-bugging, testing, validation, documentation of design decisions and software components
  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise level software applications development using emerging cloud computing and distributed technology platforms
  • 5+ years of experience in developing data architecture and DevOps pipelines in Cloud computing environments
  • 4+ years of experience in process management, Agile practices, and improvement methodologies
  • Experience in Scala, R, Java, Perl, JavaScript, or Shell
  • Experience with data warehouses/SQL/ NoSQL, AWS S3, structured/unstructured data environments/Hadoop Stack, Impala, Apache Spark, Kafka, JSON, HDFS, or AWS cloud
