Lead Software Engineer

As a Capital One Software Engineer, there is the opportunity to work on everything from customer-facing web and mobile applications using cutting-edge open source frameworks, to highly-available RESTful services, to back-end systems using the hottest techniques in Big Data.

For this position, we are looking for someone who has full stack experience. We are building a new team in NYC and would like to be able to tackle anything that comes our way.

What you'll do:

  • Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, maintain, and improve software
  • Continuously improve software engineering practices
  • Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community
  • Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity
  • Be viewed as a technical resource to be relied upon, tackling the toughest of challenges
  • Mentor and grow engineering talent across your and other teams
  • Deep dive into challenging production problems

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 8 years of experience in software development
  • At least 3 years of experience creating APIs
  • At least 5 years of database experience
  • At least 3 years of Agile experience
  • At least 2 years of Python and Django experience
  • At least 2 years of front end experience
  • At least 2 years of experience with creating and maintaining CI/CD tooling

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of software development experience
  • At least 4 years of Python experience
  • At least 3 years of experience with performance tuning and monitoring
  • At least 2 years of experience with AWS
  • At least 1 years of experience with at least 1 non-traditional language (go/lua/rust/elm/clojure/etc.)
  • At least 1 years of experience with microservices
  • At least 1 years of experience with kubernetes
  • At least 1 years of experience with docker
