Full Stack Software Engineer - Chicago WW

Are you a high-performing software engineer passionate about building production-quality applications, working closely with domain experts and other engineers? We experiment and innovate leveraging the latest technologies, engineer breakthrough customer experiences, and bring simplicity and humanity to banking. At Capital One's Card technology team, you'll be part of an elite team setting the example for by building enterprise-class applications that solve real problems and meet real customer needs.

As a Software Engineer, you will build, test, deploy and manage software solutions as part of a team that is into modernizing platforms and solving complex problems in the financial services industry. Capital One leverages full stack technology solutions including streaming big data, state of the art machine learning, micro-service architecture, distributed computation engines, and intuitive visualizations in the cloud. We work with several cutting-edge technologies and actively develop and contribute to the open source community. You will work alongside highly technical peers with deep domain expertise in a tech stack composed of Java, GoLang, REST APIs, Angular, JavaScript, Docker and AWS cloud services.

Who you are:

• You enjoy working on cutting edge technologies, high profile projects and are motivated by delivering world-class solutions on an aggressive schedule

• You have built full stack systems (preferably architected for speed, resiliency and distributed computing) and demonstrated experience in software engineering.

• You embrace DevOps principles, including continuous testing, delivery and ongoing support of production applications

• You love to learn new technologies, keep abreast of the latest technologies within cloud architecture, and drive your organization to adapt to emerging best practices

• It would be awesome if you have a robust portfolio on GitHub and/or open source contributions you are proud to share

In this Full Stack role you will:

• Design, code, test and deliver elegant, scalable solutions (in Java, JavaScript and Golang on AWS)
• Support a "You build you own" environment in production support and on-call rotation activities
• Ensure high quality - Own the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions, follow test driven development with automation in mind
• Collaborate - Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full stack of development tools and technologies

• Continuous learner - Adapt quickly to an evolving market and emerging trends. Stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community

• Work with product owners to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios
• Identify opportunities for improvement and improve software engineering practices
• Encourage innovation, implementation of emerging technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree

• 5 years of experience in software development including design, coding, testing, and support.

• 5 years of experience with one of the following programming languages: Java, JavaScript, Python, Angular

• 4 years of experience with Rest APIs, AWS Services, Microservices, Containers

• 3 years of experience with Agile, Kanban or Scrum Methodologies

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience with DevOps tools - Jenkins, Docker, Artifactory

• 4+ years experience in architectural design to production implementation

• 1 year of experience in GoLang
