Commercial Card Partnerships & Business Development Director

The Commercial Card Sales & Client Development organization is the revenue engine for this exciting and rapidly growing business. We've scaled from no associates in early 2016 to over 180 today and we're on our way to over 300 associates by 2019. We are a nationally distributed organization comprised of unmatched leaders and sales professionals with a passion for people and customers. The Director of Partnerships & Business Development will focus on developing sales and lead generation partnerships to fuel the continued growth of the organization.

The ideal candidate for this exciting new role will possess the ability to identify new partnerships, craft mutually beneficial relationships with new partners, marshal opportunities through internal and external stakeholders and decision makers, and bring these new relationships to life in a way that increases revenue and improves the customer experience.

As a Director of Partnerships & Business Development on the Capital One Commercial Card team, you will seek out exciting and new strategic partnerships, develop and mold new revenue streams and lead generation channels. You investigate opportunities, present solution options, negotiate contracts, and sustain relationships related to delivering services. You manage a broad effort to deliver across functions and in partnership with leaders in sales, marketing, product management, operations and risk management.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and execution of the Commercial Card partnerships strategy
  • Identify and establish initial contact with potential partners, research specific customer needs, and incorporate into initial partnership pitches
  • Lead the proposal process for partners, including points of negotiation, pricing development, and industry benchmarking
  • Serve as primary point of contact for new partners managing day-to-day account activities
  • Monitor and report on status of Partnership team activity, including lead and pipeline management, partner onboarding, sales forecasts, and ongoing partnership management metrics
  • Perform marketplace and industry analyses with the goal of identifying product opportunities, and uncovering potential market and partner plays
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing & Analysis, Product Management, and Operations Teams to create customized sales, lead generation, and product partnerships in line with the goals and objectives of internal and partner groups

The Person
  • Excellent writing and oral presentation skills
  • Strong organizational, problem solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to proactively and effectively communicate with all levels and groups
  • Makes independent decisions and demonstrates sound judgment to seek senior support or expertise when needed
  • Strong financial and business acumen
  • Demonstrated abilities in relationship building and influencing at a wide range of levels
  • Willing to travel up 25% of the time


Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree or military experience

- 5 years of experience in Sales or Business Development in a B2B sales organization

- 2 years of experience in partnership management or development

Preferred Qualifications:

- Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA)

- 10 years of experience in Sales or business development in a B2B sales organization

- 2 years of experience in Strategic consulting
