Chief of Staff - Capital Markets and Asset Management Operations

As Chief of Staff for the Capital Markets and Asset Management team, you will support activities for the VP and each line of business within CMAM. Your primary responsibility as Chief of Staff is to act as a strategist and advisor to the VP and his leadership team, enable effective decision-making, and support execution of strategic initiatives.

In this role, you will contribute to the long-term success of CMAM by working closely with Senior Leadership across Commercial Operations and Capital Markets, business partners, and other Chiefs of Staffs to execute Enterprise/Operations-wide and team-specific initiatives. You must excel at proactively building relationships, have a strong attention to detail and effectively maintain a holistic view of priorities and activities.


  • Partner and build cross-functional relationships with Finance, Human Resources, Strategy & Delivery, Analysis & Process Transformation, Capital One Technology, and Line of Business partners to understand and drive progress across team and organizational commitments
  • Lead and deliver special projects and ad hoc requests to support senior leaders in the team and the broader community, driving work forward across team and stakeholder groups
  • Support identification of areas of opportunity, helping to distill big picture issues into tactical requirements and implementation plans
  • Develop and maintain understanding of business needs and use cases to provide informed guidance and advocate for CMAM goals
  • Provide regular, open and bi-directional communication among team leadership and the organization for transparency and awareness of goals, tasks and expectations
  • Support workforce strategy, space planning, staffing and recruiting activities for the team across multiple geographies
  • Forecast, set, and manage department budgets in partnership with Finance and Senior Leadership
  • Partner closely with top-of-house leadership, Human Resources and people managers to coordinate and execute organizational and development activities, including talent and performance management
  • Ensure the team is well-managed across people, processes and technology
  • Develop and deliver tailored, executive-ready communications
  • Prepare, organize and lead weekly team meetings, monthly team and partner meetings and quarterly leadership offsites, as well as ad hoc strategic planning meetings for senior leadership

  • Possess a keen attention to detail and a passion for Commercial Operations
  • Possess proficiency with productivity tools, including Office/G Suite and JIRA
  • Have an intellectual curiosity and hunger to learn and apply digital solutions to the organization
  • Have proven ability to balance big picture and local team perspectives

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in project or process management
  • At least 2 years of financial services experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in Capital Markets or Commercial Banking services
  • At least 3 years of experience influencing senior stakeholders across different business functions
  • Experience serving in a Chief of Staff or critical project management role in a large, complex, and matrixed company
  • At least 2 years of experience managing visible projects which require the ability to manage cross-functional team members, remove obstacles, and influence appropriately
  • At least 3 years of people management experience
  • Experience working in team environment across locations and proven ability to manage projects and activities with cross-functional teams
