Sr. Financial Analyst, Operations

Position Overview:

Sr. Financial Analyst, Operations provides critical support, guidance and financial analysis to the operations team and the finance department on strategic business decisions that impact facility operations, quality and supply chain management. Also, partners with operations management throughout the forecasting, budgeting, and month-end closing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Works collaboratively with operations and finance personnel to establish cost standards for manufacturing operations as required
  • Analyzes actual monthly manufacturing results against plans, forecasts and standards. Specifically monitors cost variances; identifying trends;
  • Analyzes performance against monthly Key-Performance-Indicators (KPIs), investigates results and recommends actions to management to improve operational performance
  • Forecast cost variances due to anticipated external factors (raw material price changes, minimum labour rate etc.)
  • Works closely with the finance team members to assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports to ensure accuracy in financial performance reporting
  • Reconciles transactions by comparing and correcting data
  • Work collaboratively with operations budget holders and the finance group to establish operations budget and forecast recommendations
  • Provides quantitative and qualitative analysis and support for strategic business decisions
  • Develops long term plan by working with the COO to meet production needs of the company
  • Provides monthly management reports with both financial and non-financial data that is relevant for the COO to assess efficiency and effectiveness of Operations
  • Works closely with the COO and other members of the operations team to assist in all aspects of financial management
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Experience, Education and Designations:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance related field
  • 3-5 years of relevant corporate financial analytics experience
  • Cost accounting skills desired
  • Experience with Standard Costing in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Access skills
  • CPA or MBA strongly preferred

  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Able to communicate effectively across all functions and levels including presenting ideas and financial analysis to senior management
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects to meet tight deadlines

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment
  • Minimal travel – less than 5%
