Manager, Financial Reporting

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Finance, the Manager, Financial Reporting will assist in the preparation of the company's financial reporting (consolidated financial statements and MD&A); ensuring that company procedures conform to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and are prepared for filing on both SEDAR (OSC) and EDGAR (SEC). The incumbent will be responsible for researching, developing, and documenting technical accounting memos; and will play an active role in the internal control structure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of financial statements and reports that meet all regulatory and accounting guidelines
  • Preparation of quarterly and annual management discussion and analysis (MD&A)
  • Provide advice and guidance on all technical accounting matters including research of IFRS
  • Implementation of new IFRS standards, including IFRS 9, 15, and 16
  • Participate in the year-end audit and preparation of audited financial statements
  • Execute internal controls with respect to financial policies, processes and procedures
  • Support new systems or project selections and implementation from a strategic finance and internal control perspective
  • Preparation of required quarterly and annual filings with the OSC and SEC
  • Assistance with the statutory filings across the globe
  • Other related duties and required or assigned

Education, Qualifications and Experience:

  • University degree in Business/Accounting
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required with Chartered Accountant (CA) focus
  • 7+ years of professional accounting experience including public practice and working in publicly traded companies
  • Big 4 experience
  • Experience working in publicly traded companies
  • Strong IFRS technical accounting skills as evidenced by excellent research and documentation skills supporting accounting positions
  • Experience with Workiva a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft A/X a plus
  • Manufacturing and cost accounting experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes

  • Detailed knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of all aspects of corporate accounting and financial management
  • Experience in working within an internal control reporting framework preferably COSO
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Experience overseeing audits performed by external audit firms
  • Knowledge of MS Office and Excel
  • ERP experience with MS Dynamics AX
  • Good project management skills and the ability to motivate teams within tight timeframes
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts
  • Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines
  • Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work
