About our Company:

Located on a quiet stretch of San Antonio's River Walk, Hotel Havana is a 27 room historic property restored from a 1914 upscale residential hotel. Paying homage to its original spirit, all unique guest rooms and public spaces reflect a combination of Mediterranean Revival architecture, rich Spanish Colonial history, and calm Caribbean temperament, which has made Hotel Havana one of the most authentic places to stay in San Antonio. Hotel Havana also offers two distinct dining venues: Ocho, a glass-enclosed restaurant serving pan-Latin and San Antonio-fused cuisine with river views, along with Havana Bar, the downstairs cocktail lounge with velvet couches and antique leather club chairs.

Hotel Havana is proud to be a part of Bunkhouse, a hospitality company created by hotelier Liz Lambert that believes in inspired design, connection to place and the value of community. Bunkhouse has designed and developed a celebrated portfolio of hospitality projects including Hotel San José, Hotel Saint Cecilia, Austin Motel, and Jo's Coffee in Austin, Hotel Havana and Ocho in San Antonio, and El Cosmico in Marfa, Texas.

Essential Functions and Accountabilities

  1. Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos and verbal instruction

  2. Ensure immediate response is given to any and all guest comments and concerns, inform immediate supervisor of concerns and assist implementing corrective measure when necessary

  3. Provide guests with menus

  4. Greet guests and seat them at tables or in waiting areas

  5. Assign patrons to tables suitable for their needs

  6. Inspect dining and serving areas to ensure cleanliness and proper setup

  7. Speak with patrons to ensure satisfaction with food and service, and to respond to complaints

  8. Maintain contact with Kitchen staff, management, Serving staff, and customers to ensure that dining details are handled properly and customers' concerns are addressed

  9. Inform patrons of establishment specialties and features

  10. Direct patrons to waiting areas such as lounges

  11. Ensure open lines of communication with all departments and upper management at all times via email, log books, meetings, etc., to ensure all needs of the hotel are met

  12. Maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety in the work area

  13. Maintain high standards of cleanliness not only in your work area, but be of assistance in all public areas as well

  14. Ensure that all equipment is maintained in good, safe working condition

  15. Maintain an increased awareness of safety issues throughout the property

  16. Keep abreast of safety and emergency procedures and OSHA requirements

  17. Attend relevant meetings

Education & Experience

  1. High School diploma or general education degree (GED)


  1. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace

  2. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals

  3. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

  4. Ability to speak effectively before groups of co-workers and sister property staff

  5. Ability to understand other computer programs (i.e. Property Management System and Point of Sale)
