Mechanical Engineer (MicroStation) - Lockheed Facilities Support
Primary function of this Engineer Level is the complete ability to take small and medium size jobs from inception through project closeout. This will include understanding and/or developing the project’s scope, fee and schedule. Input into the three activities may be required. All work will be subject to peer reviews and Director’s reviews when applicable.
Performs assignments designed to continue to develop professional engineering work knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks. Assignments require independent judgment and application of a non-routine, complex nature, under the supervision of the Director or a more senior level engineer. Assignments shall include more variables and be more complex. Assignments usually include complex engineering tasks and calculations with limited technical guidance on non-standard issues. Independently performs most assignments with instruction as to the general results expected. Receive technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects. Devise new engineering approaches and solutions. Must coordinate with and help resolve conflicts with other disciplines based on an excellent understanding of the design process. Project specific construction specifications including construction administration will be your responsibility.
Perform design and calculation tasks based on standard engineering techniques and procedures. Applies standard practices, engineering fundamentals, and techniques in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, and follows design through a series of related detailed steps or processes.
Performs design of more complex projects under direction of Director or a more senior level engineer
Prepare reports, specifications, and plans for projects under the direction of the Director or other more senior level engineer. Assist with the development of cost estimates and scheduling
Performs computer aided design drafting to produce designs onto routine final drawings
Research discipline-related code issues and present interpretation
Visits construction sites and attend site meetings to review, monitor, and report progress. Perform other construction administration duties, such as shop drawing review, answering RFI’s, preparing Supplemental Instructions or Proposal Requests, and writing status reports
Uses company and discipline department computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents
Instruct Subordinate Engineers, Designers and Draftspersons to produce designs into working drawings
Perform checking of one’s own work and work prepared by drafters and engineering designers
Responsible for job specific standards, practices and quality as defined in BRPH Systems Manuals
Assist in preparing design budgets, marketing proposals and cost estimates
Assist in client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects
Develops engineering proposals and agreements in conjunction with the Director
Assists the Director with the forecasting of workload and resources for assigned projects and/or department
Prepares and monitors project budgets. Has overall responsibility for the profitability of his/her projects.
Responsible for meeting project schedules, timely completion and quality of assigned projects.
Promote communication, cooperation and quality among staff
Promotes and represents the firm in a professional manner
Should be active in professional trade organizations
Must be proficient in the use of:
Microsoft Windows, Excel, Project, and Word
Trane Trace Load 700
Trane Trace Energy Modeling software or Equest
State Specific Energy Codes
Miscellaneous mechanical system and product selection and sizing software
Education and /or Experience
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
Minimum of six years’ experience as an Engineer in Mechanical Engineering
Must have passed the NCEES exam and be licensed as a Professional Engineer
Certification, Licenses, Registrations
Must be a licensed professional engineer
